So mall stores close down due to competition, many of which is from Amazon. Now Amazon opens stores in said malls, offering for sale many of the same items that used to be sold in said mall locations.

The Amazon store inside of The Woodlands Mall is called "Amazon 4-star."

The store carries top-rated Amazon products including electronic devices, kitchen appliances, toys, books, games and more.

"Everything in store is rated 4 stars and above by our customers, or is a top seller, or is new and trending on Amazon.com," said a spokesperson for the company.

quote:

The brick-and-mortar Amazon store inside Baybrook Mall is called "Amazon Books."

This store sells a collection of customer-favorited books, all rated 4 stars and above. The store also sells devices, toys and games.

And before you ask, yes, Prime members still get the same benefits in both stores as they would online.

Curious to see how this works out. Many times I buy from Amazon because I don't need it today and I don't want to go to a store. Maybe there will be times where I want something right away and the Amazon price will be cheaper.

Same thing will happen with the work from home phenomenon you’re seeing now. It’ll be all the rage and then in a few years commercial real estate and office buildings will be the trendy thing again.

Interesting.... Amazon is going bricks and mortar and WalMart is going online...
I’d love to know the their strategy....
I did think that putting AMAZON returns centers in Kohl’s was a good idea though... very easy. I just dropped it off at the kiosk and they packaged it and returned it for free...

I just want Amazon to bring back the old model that was used by Service Merchandise with a little tweek

The store is only a showroom. Then you order from Amazon and have it delivered to your house

Have that many companies announced that it's permanent?

The brick and mortar is just a convenient place to return and serve as a hub at the same time. They are also throwing different brick and mortar stores out there to see what sticks. I'm even thinking their "Go" technology will come into play with these.

in person is better and more efficient for creativity, problem solving, and getting tasks done IMO.

Just wait until Amazon opens a Supercenter. I picture it as a brick and mortar with multiple drive thru lanes. Like a gigantic beer barn. Order on the app and drive in to have everything from fruit, veggies and meat to anything else a Walmart carries loaded in your car for you. Drive in. Drive out. No buggies. No need for ambience and convenience. Nothing.

This is like when Uber started a ride sharing option where they were going to lower the cost of rides by picking other people up on the way. That used to be called public bus routes
