Question: Can I load ebooks and audiobooks from "outside" sources on the Fire
Yes. As far as I've read.

But those two items only store to the internal memory which is about 5.5 GB after the operating system takes about 2.5 GB

The up to 128 GB external can hold your movies & pics. And maybe non-amazon or non-iTunes downloaded music.

I bought a 32 GB card. I should be good to go. I have a ton of audiobooks stored on itunes. I should be able to convert them to the kindle. same with ebooks.

I was waiting on the Inside Out (movie) deal to hit and when it did it was sold out immediately. Wth? Anyone have any idea how that happens?

We did too. And got friends to get 6 more for their kids. Very good deal. Legit Fire with cameras and SD slot.

I imagine this is the appeal to parents.

The kidless fricks are here to piss on it as usual but with 4 kids I hopped on it. The Kindle is also appealing because it's simple for kids to use. These are too good to pass up.

I've got no kids and I grabbed one. Will probably use it for movies/tv shows when I go places. Tons of movies on prime. I don't really need one, but at $35 I got one anyway.

It works with overdrive so if you have a library card, and a decent library system where you live, you can checkout books and audiobooks for free up to 10 at a time.

The ads are so unobtrusive that I don't even notice them anymore.

Friends, please explain to me this magical fire stick.

We aren't cordless, an we have Netflix and such through our tv

Would the fire stick for me primarily be used to watch Amazon prime movies?
