Allergy shots, do they work?

It seems like my allergies have been getting worse over the couple of years. Lately it has been worse than ever. Took my kid on a 4wheeler ride yesterday and have been wheezing, coughing, having nasal congestion, and my nose is draining like wide open faucet. I’m finding that OTC allergy pills aren’t working. I’m at the point where I don’t know what to do anymore.

Yes, and also suffers from high anxiety and the shots seem to help with that as well.
Not that they do anything for her anxiety, but by having fewer symptoms she is less stressed.

I have been sick since Jan with Sinus infections. A doctor finally started treating my allergies and I feel 100% better after being on Singulair, Flonase and Azelastine nasal spray.

Have you seen a specialist about it?
The immune system is a real pain in the arse, so there's a field dedicated to helping folks manage their immune system responses.
There are processes, with solid science and research behind them that can get good results.

I got them for years as a kid. They were a bitch, time consuming and painful. And I don’t have the slightest clue if they helped at all.

No I haven’t seen anyone yet. I am going to try to find somewhere this week to go. I was hoping my General practitioner could help but I don’t think they do it at his office.

Depends on what your allergic too, some people respond better than others. It's a commitment either way. Most people need to do allergy shots for 3-5 years at minimum.
Either see an allergist or an ENT that does allergy, can get you tested and started on some different nasal sprays(some are over the counter now) or other meds to help blunt the allergy response.

I did shots for 4 yrs with little effects
Did nothing 10 yrs after that and dealt with it until 2 yrs ago when I had worst allergy attack I can remember
Starting doing the drops under tongue daily. Noticed a difference within a month. Been going on 2 yrs with no sinus infections when I was averaged 5 to 8 a year requiring medication.
Drops work, shots meh

I did shots for 3 years, but plateaued...Been on Nasonex every day for 10. Definitely works to lessen effects of allergies.

When I grew up small town I didn’t know anyone with allergies & the city had zero allergist but in that same small town that has gotten smaller has 3 allergist & now every kid in that town has allergies
