So Cody doesn't see color but he does see gay people. Ain't that something?
ETA: Regarding Brosef's post ... that's disgusting.

I don't see why "puto" has anything to do with homosexuality. The closest English translation is probably "man whore"... whatever that even means.

I graduated with Cody. Everyone always thought he was in the closet. That's all I've got.

Puto is the masculine version of puta which is calling a woman a whore, usually meaning the woman is "loose" vs actually saying she is a prostitute. So just like English and every other language a curse usually is quite situational. Puto in Mexico is more like calling a man a bitch in the US, usually a snitch or a whiny dude but can mean gay but it is situational just like bitch can mean a gay dude in the proper context. Puto is South American countries is more of a direct gay slur as it more directly means gay prostitute than it does in Mexico.
Like lots of inter-country languages, it can mean different things based on where you are located sometimes it is a subtle difference and sometimes not so subtle. I like sucking on f@gs will get different looks in Manchester vs Manchac.

No, I meant Puto:
There is a lot to unpack in the phrase ‘the meaning of puto’. First, there’s the literal translation and meaning. Soccer writer Elliot Turner, in a piece for Fusion, did an excellent job of dissecting the etymology of the word, and I encourage you to read it. In short, the word in Spanish most simply translates as ‘male prostitute’. It can also be used as an emphatic adjective, like how Americans will append the f-word to the start of something for dramatic effect: ‘this f***ing jar just won’t open’ / ‘this puto assignment my boss gave me is really dumb’. But it also means ‘****’, a clearly hateful slur for homosexuals. And it also means ‘coward’, a word that, while not as incendiary as ‘****’, certainly doesn’t paint homosexuals in a positive light when the two terms are closely associated with one another.
