Maybe you are an exception, but you would be the last person to realize there was a problem, your co-workers and family probably have a different opinion.

Roger, your future isn't a higher power. Look at the 12 steps and see how it makes no sense.

I didn't like AA because most of the people in there were full of shite.
when I use to have to go for court, I think only a few were really sober in there.
after growing up around a relative who had a huge problem, it was easier to pick up on.
or maybe it was just a lot of misplaced anger I had.
regardless, I didn't like it.
and you're right, if a person really wants to quit they'll do it on their own.
but to be fair, everyone is not like that.

Man this thread went to shite in a hurry.

right, I also said not everyone is like that.
people find different ways to defeat it.
I've known people who have that didn't rely on some horseshite 12 step program.

That's not what a Higher Power is. That's why I said those people don't really understand what it is they are doing.
if you fully understood your higher power, then it wouldn't be a higher power....that's why people have faith, because they believe in something that they cannot see or understand

Now we're getting somewhere.

whatever people want to use as their higher power is their business....as long as it helps them stay sober, more power to them
Posted on 5/7/14 at 2:58 pm to redfieldk717
it is bullshite.
but hey that's just my opinion.
I should have known not to open this thread.

Eh, okay. It's obvious we differ on that.

yes it is, because it saved my arse and i tried everything under the sun to try and quit. that is an incredibly ignorant thing to say when millions of people achieve sobriety and happiness through AA

I've already stated my opinion on this subject. I'm done with this thread, my friend. I'm glad you found sobriety.
