I'm sorry, are you wanting me to show you an article from a scientist siding with me? is that all you need?

There's an excerpt that deals with this kind of issue with the disease:

quote:

In the Big Book of A.A., the jay-walker story makes an excellent case for using the Big Book as a recovery text for treating any and all addictions.

On pages 37-38 in the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous it says:

"Our behavior is as absurd and incomprehensible with respect to the first drink as that of an individual with a passion, say, for jay-walking. He gets a thrill out of skipping in front of fast-moving vehicles. He enjoys himself for a few years in spite of friendly warnings. Up to this point you would label him as a foolish chap having queer ideas of fun. Luck then deserts him and he is slightly injured several times in succession. You would expect him, if he were normal, to cut it out. Presently he is hit again and this time has a fractured skull. Within a week after leaving the hospital a fast-moving trolley car breaks his arm. He tells you he has decided to stop jay-walking for good, but in a few weeks he breaks both legs."

"On through the years this conduct continues, accompanied by his continual promises to be careful or to keep off the streets altogether. Finally, he can no longer work, his wife gets a divorce and he is held up to ridicule. He tries every known means to get the jaywalking idea out of his head. He shuts himself up in an asylum, hoping to mend his ways. But the day he comes out he races in front of a fire engine, which breaks his back. Such a man would be crazy, wouldn't he?"

"You may think our illustration is too ridiculous. But is it? We, who have been through the wringer, have to admit if we substituted alcoholism or any addiction for jay-walking, the illustration would fit exactly. However intelligent we may have been in other respects, where alcohol has been involved, we have been strangely insane. It's strong language but isn't it true?"

I have no doubt you do as well.

This is pointless and makes no argument at all, btw. I pointed out to you that at one time the leading scientist thought the earth was flat, proving that just because its excepted in the scientific community doesn't make it so. You followed up with nothing arguing otherwise, therefore we should conclude you acknowledge this and have no argument for it....

If some guy kept running in the road, I'd just let him get hit and die, liquidate his estate to pay for damages, and boom we can move on.......

So, once again, do you only require one scientist or several who think more on my side?

Whatever man. There's lots of "Highly Educated" people who think its a joke to throw alcoholics in the same category as cancer patients.

Also, Sorry you or a loved one is weak minded and has no willpower.

Im sure you can find a proctologist who will agree with your unscientific ideas. But medical consensus doesn't sway simpletons. You can join the 911 truthers, the flat earth society and the Bernie Sanders school of economics in your corner.

LITERALLY missing the point.

There aren't going to be any assets to liquidate at any rate. Of that you can be sure the vast majority of the time.

were the masses all just simpletons because they believed, like the scientific community, that the earth was flat long ago?

Are you just talking to yourself now? You've got 8 posts on this page alone.

You seem heavily invested in this subject. The most opinionated....

You know you've lost an argument when your only rebuttal is calling them a retard.

Categorize addiction however you'd like. I don't give a shite.

You don't die from hypertension, you die from a CVA, MI, etc. Does that mean high blood pressure isn't a disease?

It makes a difference when someone that you pay shows up to work and wants 6 weeks off for rehab, protected under law.
