I just like the fact that they had different things that weren't at every store around here.

Make your own 6 pack
A green Chili sausage from North Carolina ( haven't seen it in months though)
Flat Iron steaks for a good price.

Other things I can't think of now.

I used to shop at an Albertsons near Skillman and Abrams in Dallas. I quit shopping Albertsons after I found out the store at 75 and Royal had cheaper prices. The Abrams and Skillman location was the only store in what has turned into a low income area. They knew lots of those people had no choice but to shop there. Pretty sure that store is a Fiesta now.

What do you consider a bad area in DS?

We can't have nice things. No Brookeshires. No Publix. No HEB. No Kroger. Just lower tier stores, local mom/pops, and worn out Albertson's, Winn Dixies,

Rodeo drive baw. That and Eastover are the DS hood.

ETA - I think they might have renamed it to MLK Blvd if I'm remembering correctly. That really plays in to Chris Rocks bit about that street name too if true.

The Eastover white trash is always walking down the road to get to the neighborhood Walmart which is next door to them. That's why I'm hoping they don't put another one where the Albertsons is.

The Carter's across from the Walmart by Eastover always has those guys that have recovering drugheads around trying to get you to donate to their cause. That is the reason I have slowly stopped going there. I don't like to look like a dick by not donating, but I don't feel like giving money when I'm about to spend money. If it's for a real cause like St Jude's it would be different.

On Rodeo it's mostly drugs and the occasional shooting. It looks like a typical side street outside of the north gates of LSU. Eastover is a big nasty trailer park. It's one of the worst ones I've ever seen and it's huge. It's a mixture of meth head white trash, a few black people and a bunch of Mexicans. A lot of the residents don't have trash service and just pile it up outside. It's disgusting.

Pretty much. I know a few people that live there. It was definitely going downhill before the flood. A lot of foreclosed properties, rent houses and a few section 8 even.

What could've been a nice neighborhood is gradually turning to shite. Too many fillings and letting people park in the yards and street. You would have to see it. It's not like a 70's or 80's houses with huge yards and it looks ok for a few days with a car in the yard. This is how they park all the time. They have a gas station/ store in the front of the neighborhood, so what could be a good thing, brings unwanted people to the neighborhood scoping shite out.

I live a few miles down the road and pass it all the time. Rarely, do I go in the neighborhood. A buddy of mine got out early on.

Yeah we lived in LP for years and we knew a few people that lived in there. I could gradually see the decline happening from about 5 or 6 years ago. The houses are cheap but there are a lot of neighborhoods like that out there but it could have been a decent starter home type subdivision.

It really was. I mean DR Horton built a lot of the houses but that's what you are going to get for 130k and for most people it's a good starter home price point. There were a lot of divorced mom's and people in their mid 20s. The last filing had a bunch of even cheaper homes - like $100k and after the 08 downtown that part went down fast. I was a bit surprised because it's pretty far out in the country.

Between Juban and Walker South off of 16

I think most starter home neighborhoods end up turning into this, especially the bigger ones.

I lived in a similar, but smaller neighborhood in Denham and was ready to get out. Always people parked in the street, but it wasn't too trashy. Ended up flooding though
