Hard to feel sorry for someone that’s probably responsible for a double digit body count of overdoses.

Only 18 years for killing a female cop with her own weapon?

What did Chauvin get sentenced to for Floyd overdosing?

It’s fricking bizaro world out here, and some of you dumbfricks wonder why these type of cops are getting hired, you have to be brain dead to do this job.

I completely understand that POV, and, to be honest, that was my gut reaction as well after reading.

But...

Tolerating abuse of government power when it's committed against someone we believe deserves it is a road map to having our own rights abused when those same powers or other citizens believe WE deserve it.

I'm just old enough to have witnessed police in this country transition from a mentality more akin to "protect and serve" into quasi-military formations with a mentality that all too often mirrors that of an occupation army battling an insurgency, complete with"tactical response units", armored vehicles, and even small town cops dripping in enough 'tacticool' to make an Army Ranger blush.

It's alarming to me, and has been allowed to get to this point because the general public had no problem with it. Because, "well he was a crack dealer" or he was running meth. And don't get me wrong: frick those guys. I don't feel bad for them on an individual level. But it's about the bigger picture.

Once they've codified that authority, firepower, the right to make snap moral judgments and mete out punishment on-the-fly as they see fit? What happens when they decide they don't like you? Your mom, your son, your wife?
