Airboats durning floods are useless

We have learned that unless you are trying to get somewhere in a hurry, they are too loud and maneuverability is horrible. A flood rescue boat needs to be as quiet as possible to hear people yelling. It needs to be aluminum a chain linnk fence will shrewd a inflatable. A shallow water engine is way better than an outboard.

Considering the amount of people saved by airboats, this is fricking asinine.

They are great at ferrying people from point A to point B. But if you don't find them then you can't save them.

Show me a mud boat that can jump across stretches of dry ground and inches deep water and I will agree you don't ever need an airboat.
As for the aluminum hull thing, well no shite. If someone brought an inflatable out there they weren't very bright.

Airboats may not be optimal, but this kind of situation is the epitome of beggars cannot be choosers.
Inflatables with 36V trolling motors and an endless supply of charged batteries would be great, but that's not how this works.

Let's talk about airboat wakes. The three foot kind.

I bet you would turn down a flat boat because it smelled like fish, or it didn't have an actual seat. The people that needed to be rescued did not give a shite how people helped.

kind of silly to say useless. Not optimal maybe...

Some dude on airboat picked up your girl?

Why don't we talk about how many boats you saw push a 3' wake and then you can describe what fricking difference it makes if a house has 6ft or 9ft of water when that airboat pulls up and saves people from the roof.

Describe the boat you would buy if your company/fire depatment had to buy 10 today?

Just because an airboat isn't ideal for a flood rescue mission doesn't mean it's useless.

Would you turn down being rescued by someone who would be on an airboat?
I'll hang up and listen...

I guess we could drop paratroopers from F18's but it would be a poor option.

what the frick drives someone with 100 post to come on here and bitch about air boats out of left field when they were just responsible for saving lives?

Ahh, so we're just talking about assholes, not airboats.
My grandparents had a 3+ feet wake damn near take out their front windows after they already had 9" in the house. It came from an a-hole driving an 18-wheeler.
