Wife's AC went out in her car today and the nice people at Firestone quoted us 1200 to replace it. What's an ideal price for this? I doubt they checked it very thoroughly. They also told us the battery was no good, it was brand new in February.

I don't know the ideal price but I can tell you the quote would have been $800-$900 had it been your car and not hers.

Get a window unit at Home Depot for $99. Put a generator in the trunk. Use the savings to take a cruise on Carnival out of New Orleans to Mexico.

The compressor went out? Or is it leaking somewhere? Or did the fan go out? What year/model vehicle? Transverse engine?

Compressor, that doesn't seem far off for Firestone on a transverse engine. Can likely get another quote for the labor, and get a refurbished unit for a little cheaper.

If in BR area, bring it to Tommy's Automotive. Cheap, decent work, and quick turnaround. Best prices I've ever seen for auto work.

Don't post the year make and model of the car or anything so people can give you an idea on price.

Compressor went out they said. It's an 09 Nissan Murano. We went to the one in Madison, Ms.

My ex-DIL had a compressor go out in her 2010 Murano - she paid around $300 for a new one and had it installed for around another 300 - this was in the New Iberia area last year.
