The idea is that AI won't give a shite about humans either way, and it will simply surpass us and leave us in the dust (which means destroying us in some way).
Any AI that has "emotion" isn't a truly AGI or ASI version, and will simply act on how it is programmed. IMO the issue won't be AI destroying humans, but rather the twisted version of AI destroying the enemies of whoever controls it.

Here's the thing it would be insidious and slow. We wouldn't even recognize it until there was basically nothing left to unplug except everything because it would always be on some random server somewhere. We would have to immediately revert to an early 1900's state and our society isn't built for that.
