After a new AC unit is installed how long before maintenance is needed?

Mines about 6 yrs old...thinking it may be time for a checkup

It doesn't hurt to have it topped off after the first Summer of heavy use.

Mostbof the installs we do are existing customers and immediately go on a maintenance agreement. If you change your own filter regularly, have someone come out once a year prior to hot weather at a minimum.

Ours is only 4 years old, hasn't been cooling as it should, have them coming out to do tune up and check it tomorrow

Coolant doesn't need to be topped off. It never quits working unless it leaks out.

both of mine are 12 years old. One check up 7 years ago. Never had one minutia of a problem.

"topping off" is the term that HVAC folks use when they are talking about adding a little refrigerant that has leaked out...
