there are lots of critical spare parts that the mfg will not continue after 20 years. should your ecm go bad you will be scouring scrap yards for one that works
Number 1 selling vehicle for the last 600 years. Junkyard s will have ample supply of odd parts.
Price of a new truck is $35,000 plus. One can do a lot of repairs and still be ahead. If he is happy with an old beater truck and is handy with repairs...

Ford produced the 4.6 2 valve from 1990-2014. So using your 20 years parts availability he should be good until 2034

I went with a crate engine for my 02 F150 4.6. A Ford certified mechanic said to buy the crate.
My old motor got up to 270k until a rod started knocking.
Install was 5 grand total. Changed it this summer.
Truck still rides like a Cadillac.

Is it the 3 valve with the carbon problem?
Carbon build up was a problem on the electrode shell causing the shell to break off when extracted

They’re a pita to tap and screw out.

Ford with to a 3 valve configuration for the 4.6L SOHC engine in 2005.
The 2V version was an anemic pos engine...even with the PI heads.

Buy a low mile Coyote engine for it. MUCH better engine.

I've never bought a crate engine, but I have rebuilt several over the years. I've always found that the cost difference in doing a complete rebuild myself, and the cost of a crate engine to be negligible.

Yea the 3 valve came out in 2005 but Ford was still using the 2 valve 4.6 SOHC until 2014.

I had that POS 4.6 years back,
No power and crap mpg (5.4 owners got better on both). Get 5.4, they probably more available too. GL
Where does all this b.s. info cine from? The 4.6 is a bullet proof motor. The cab drivers and cop cars say as much.
The 5.4 is a notorious problem, with the spark plug and cam phaser issues.

You both are cheap frickers.....and I applaud you

Those 3v mod motors ain't cheap. If you want another motor, have a shop install a Jasper motor. Comes with 100,000 mile nation wide warranty. That includes labor as well.

Not the 07 4.6. It is the 3 valve motor that has all sorts of problems like the 5.4 had. 2 piece spark plugs, cam phasers etc.
Edit- 08 is when they started putting the 3v in the F150s. My bad

Rebuilding or replacing the engine in a ‘07 F150 with 250k is throwing good money after bad.
The truck is worn out.

2019 XLT, Reg Cab, SWB, w/5.0 V8
Its about 200 miles away from BR, but there are others like it that may be closer to your specific location. Just get on Cars.com or Cargurus and do a 250 mile search radius with the specific truck you're looking for.
Here's a used 2013 with only 73k miles in Picayune that meets the specs you mentioned, and it's only $14,000: LINK
As for later model trucks having the rear ends jacked up, just have the truck leveled. It'll get rid of the factory rake and isn't fairly inexpensive to do (no more than a few hundred dollars).
I contimplated doing what you're talking about to my 2011 Ram that had 200k trouble free miles. Ended up getting a new truck this year bc the cost to upgrade my older one wasnt worth the time or has. I found a new F150 XLT that had everything I needed in a truck and still costs less than $40k.

Of all the F150s, the ‘07 generation is one of the least desirable for very long term ownership.
thanks, thats the kind of info i needed to avoid buying junk
i was looking at the f150s because those are reasonable priced and from what i hear the 4.6 v8 are bullet proof. realizing of course things can go bad with even good reputation engines.
my ultimate goal would be a 02-06 regular cab silverado short bed with the 5.3 v8 but the ones i find are $4k over book value. and thats not a mistake or just one ad, sellers are overpricing the shite out of them because they are very desired.
its hard to find a regular cab chevy that isnt a v6 but almost all f150s are 4.6 v8s and book values are around $1k less then chevys

2014 and 2015 chevy and gmc have bad vibration issues, they arent all bad but 1 in 5 has vibration issues
i had a brand new one i had to sue chevy to force them to buy it back
i shite you not, they claimed brand new trucks are supposed to shake and vibrate when driving on smooth paved roads
look at the video i made showing it, jump to time stamp 1:05, they said that was normal

im a skilled mechanic so i can do everything but rebuild the engine tranny and rear end, and thats only from lack of the needed equipt and special tools
the asking on the truck was $900 and there wasnt even so much as a scratch or dent on it, thats why i was looking at it.
for now im trying to find something still running with around 150-170k miles with the idea a replacement power plant is in its future
