re: Advice for Europe trip

I'd suggest Paris. You still won't have enough time to enjoy all there is to see and do in Paris. Spent 3 weeks there years ago and still did not do everything I wanted to. Second choice would be Rome. I'm into slow travel. I enjoy spending at least a week in one city.

I was the same. I'd been to lots of places in Asia but never Europe, so I didn't want to plan too much for myself for the first trip. Last month I did 5 nights in Rome, with a very long day trip to Florence and an afternoon trip for a wine tour in Frascati. That was a nice vacation. With hindsight, it would not have been too much to split the time in Florence and Rome, the train was really easy. If that's what you pick, I can suggest a great private tour guide.

I love the OT travel threads where someone says they are going to City X, and the advice is to go on a hike 6 hours away and go to this great restaurant an hour and a half away. But people like different stuff and are just trying to help.
