I've had night terrors and sleep paralysis all of my adult life as well. Most evidence points to a serotonin imbalance in the brain. This could be precipitated by the meds you take, drugs or past drug abuse, alcohol or it could just be how you are wired

Edit: Get a dog. Exercise. Drink more water.

When the body is tired work the mind. When the mind is tired work the body.

If you die on a subway track so be it.
Everybody dies. That's not what matters.

I have them weekly and usually around the same time at night. Some are different but I've had the same one hundreds of times. I don't recall having them when I was younger but I've got a pretty idea what triggers them now. Long story short there is a good chance something triggers yours. Mine is certain movies and names of people a lot of times. They suck but I'm more freaked out now when I sleep through the night.

I started having night terrrors when I was around 20. The terrors are rare and I may only get them if I am very tired and very stressed. The nightmares don't vary much and usually involve any one of two or three themes. A favorite is I'll suddenly realize that the floor around my bed has dropped away and my bed is 100 feet in the air. It's very terrifying. The weirdest thing is my eyes will be wide open during these night terrors. I will sometimes have a different sort of night terror if I'm sleeping somewhere different like a hotel - I'll wake up and think I'm trapped somewhere and have to find my way out.

They always occurs early in the night almost minutes after finally falling asleep. I think part of it is my brain thinking I'm dying instead of sleeping and I fight it.

I've had dreams where I was trapped too. During one, I was locked in one of the Disney dark rides (Mr. Toad) after hour. It's pitch black and I'm crawling on my knees screaming can anyone hear me.

I have sleep paralysis like 6-7 times a year and jt blows. My gf thinks I'm insane when it happens, but it's something I don't wish upon anyone.

I get sleep paralysis once in a blue moon. I just shut my eyes now and go back to sleep.

I've never noticed that my night terrors occur during any particular time while I'm asleep. But I have noticed that I'll move quickly into a dream state when I sometimes go back to sleep in the morning after having been up and moving around for a bit. Those dreams are not terrifying, but are rather ordinary and very realistic.

Meditation is the cure. I don't do it but know the process.

I hardly ever had them, but then had three or four in the last few months. I am keenly aware of what is going on--usually someone in the room trying to get me and I'm fighting them off or screaming and trying to get away. I usually wake up to my wife shaking me telling me I'm having a bad dream and muttering or yelling in my sleep. One time I even screamed f&@$ you you mother fing so and so (insert cuss words here) which is not like me at all. Usually when this happens I also struggle physically like I'm trying to wake myself up

Ive heard they are genetic. My dad and uncle get them and so do I occasionally. Exercise and eating right help big time though.
