As Colion Noir says, gun control is not about safety, it’s about control.
They would absolutely ban those things by using arguments that are just stupid as the ones they’d make for banning knives. It doesn’t have to make sense as long as you frighten enough people to go along with you.

Ok. Ban the guns. Not just the ones used in most shootings (pistols), but the big scary ones, too.
Oh, that didn't solve violence? Ok, no knives with points. Have universal background checks and licenses for fricking swords and kives. You know what? No. No knives and swords.
Next up, the sport of cricket is banned in the UK. Or at least, you have to have background checks and licenses to use a bat when you play. Then you ban cars. Then household bleach and pens (back to ink and feathers). Then ban shoes and hands.
Wait, why don't they just ban violence!? Make it a crime to commit crimes! That'll solve it!
