If you are following the latest Apple vs Samsung patent trial, it is absolutely clear that Apple considers Samsung its No. 1 rival and vice versa. It is fascinating to read all the internal emails and presentations, which came out of during discovery, from managements of both companies and see how the executives think and strategize.

I just bought a galaxy tab 3 lite for my 6yo niece and the thing is absolute shite. I've had frustrations with Apple, but have never straight up returned a product.

For years GM was #1 simply because the people who bought them had always bought them, and their parents did, etc. even though the quality was obviously sub par compared to others.

My friend had several iPhones for years and made the switch to the GS4 last year. He keeps housing me to switch over. I like my iPhone and really don't see anything that makes me want to just up and switch. It's going to be a toss up for me this year with the new iPhone and GS5.

Since I have a moment to spare, why? I don't use fricking tablets. I have a 5s and 2.6 pound notebook that I can do actual work on. Don't own an iPad. My niece always like playing with her parents' and grandparents' iPads, so I thought I'd get her something cheaper to learn on.

The #1 reason I hate iPhone and iPads is the restrictive nature. You have to jailbreak them to get "freedom" which is stupid.

My wife and I left iPhones about two years ago. My 15 year old daughter is still an iSheep.

The iCollective is strong. No need for freedom. Only need simple products and iTunes.

Problem is that Samsung did absolutely copy the iPhone design and some features.

Its insane how much money both sides have spent litigating this. There have been some types of studies used that have never seen the courtroom before.

I jail broke my old 4 I had and didn't care too much for it. What can you do with your Samsung that makes it that much better? Fonts, ring tones, custom vibrations, etc? Serious question...I'm not as update to fate with recent changes as I was two years ago. What appeals to you the most with the customization options?

If having "freedom" is so important to you then why did you get an iPhone? It cracks me up when people say this about an iPhone bc it doesn't have widgets or shite like that. Who cares? All I know is my iPhone doesn't crash constantly like my old droid did and was very unstable. Doubt if I ever go back.

Everyone should read the book on Apple vs Google. It's something like "How Apple and Google Went to War and Started a Revolution". It details the relationship between the two that began as adoration and almost obsession and now is beyond hatred, and how the battle has created the most starteling technological revolution in decades. It's super interesting.

Apple just pissed they're getting worked.

Ahhh. So Samsung is the new, liberated, hipster choice. Apple is establishment. Do you know the difference between hipster orthodoxy and establishment orthodoxy?

When you figure it out, do tell the rest of us.

I'm a PC holdover because I'm just too stuck in my ways, but I've owned four iterations of the iPhone and about five iPods. Some of the best consumer-centered inventions of my lifetime. I'm frustrated by my inability to completely disentangle myself from iCloud and some other features, but the hardware is second to none.

I don't understand the hate. I have a MacBook, iPhone, and an iPad. I use the latter two for work most of every day, and the laptop at home.

Clearly Apple decided to make a product for the everyman, as has been their objective following the Apple 2, and they've done it well. Everything works well for me and nothing is too complicated.

If I were in IT or had/needed knowledge of a more advanced computer/tablet/phone, I'd probably go elsewhere. But that's not the case, so Apple's line of products suits me very well. I don't have to have Apple products, they're just insanely useful for the crowd who needs ease of use (aka the vast majority of consumers).
