Last one we had, I advertised starting at 7, and we weren't opening up before then. Of course I'm down there at 6:15 finishing setting stuff up and someone bangs on my garage door wanting in. I was tempted to do something stupid that would have been hilarious to me, but you never know what kind of crazy the people are that spend every Saturday morning scouring garage sales. I let her in, and I think she ended up buying about $80 worth of stuff, so no biggie. No one else showed up until about 6:50.
Clothes go fast here, and random old electronics. Whatever doesn't sell we donate to a shelter and get a tax slip. And the wife usually goes through the kids clothing first and tries to sell them at consignment sales to make a little more. What doesn't sell there we sell at the garage sale.

I had amassed over 100 baseball caps from suppliers and salesman. $2 each and the Mexicans were lined up to buy them. Had to go dig more out the closet.

I have about 50 or so Ralph Lauren Polo shirts stored in a bin in my closet. I check them occasionally to make sure they are still in good shape. How much could I get for them in a garage sale?

If they are in good shape $500 easily.

They are in great shape. I had a very bad addiction to that label in my 20s and would spend about $300 a month in my 20s for a stretch of about 8 months. I sold some to consignment a few years ago and kept the rest.

I love yard sales.
I'd never been to one until about 6 years ago, when we moved to an area with a fair amount of older people.
I may never buy a new tool again, these old men are selling these awesome, better made tools from the 70's and 80's.
Last spring, I bought a baby crib for $10. And it's a good one from back in the day.
I also got an all-hardwood dresser for $40, a coat of paint for the new baby's room and it looks amazing.

People bought the school uniforms at a garage sale? Seems like it would be a tough sell.
You must not know how expensive good quality school uniforms are??

The schools I went to had school specific uniforms. Unless someone happened by that had a kid younger than me who went to the same school then they would be no use.

My wife stopped at an estate sale a couple of years ago. She bought me some crappy old toolset, and told me he had a bunch more. We went back the next day, and I rummaged through it and found a nice older socket set, some yard tools, and a few other things I use routinely now. I asked her about cookware, specifically old cast iron, and she said she saw some the day before but they were gone now.
