And you think for countries that have moved on their numbers are lower simply because they slowed testing?

Genuinely I’ll have to check that out. Not knocking trump, our whole state government and fed seems to be a cluster

And again, the nurses would have to want to be trained on doing covid.

You seem confused. We are testing more than any state per capita. We get more money finding more cases. At the same time, he has to look like he’s taking action as the cases rise. He can’t do nothing or it’ll piss off his scared, big government base. Closing bars was the easy low hanging fruit. Talking masks is easy low hanging fruit. He hasn’t done anything else really. And neither are going to truly slow this down.

Thats a fact. We are testing anyone and everyone who wants a test. Most places ave moved on to only testing when someone needs it or there’s a specific study involved like the German school kids.

There are a lot of issues to argue about here. This isn’t one. I know for a fact that the largest hospital in my city has as many Covid patients as it has ever had. It’s full.

I remember it spreading quickly but I don’t recall it spreading to this magnitude internationally and here in the states

So, is JBE and a-hole for sacrificing us or just smarter than all the other governors?

Your tin foil conspiracy theory is really great.

Why did he lock us down and lose all that potential money? Why did he wait so long to open us back up?

Then it would have been like the swine flu. Nothing shut down, no economic collapse, nothing.

Per the cdc:

During the pandemic, CDC provided estimates of the numbers of 2009 H1N1 cases, hospitalizations and deaths on seven different occasions. Final estimates were published in 2011. These final estimates were that from April 12, 2009 to April 10, 2010 approximately 60.8 million cases (range: 43.3-89.3 million), 274,304 hospitalizations (195,086-402,719), and 12,469 deaths (8868-18,306) occurred in the United States due to pH1N1.

How many American deaths did we have with the swine flu?

I know folks here say fake news on reported deaths from the virus so likely the answer I will get but again I don’t remember the count being 100k+

there's also a treatment option for the flu that can reduce the mortality risk.

No. 1 year. Not two. Don’t focus on deaths. Focus on hospitals and cases.

As far as deaths, swing was still more deadly for the young and working class. 50 and younger were the majority of deaths with 18 and younger being almost 2000. Infants were especially vulnerable. We never stopped school or sports then.

The reason you remember so little is because our president was a democrat and it was barely covered compared to covid. Even though both were novel viruses.

ETA: and swine started in North America and really spread in the USA more than anywhere from the start.

Apologies, 1...

And I think we can’t ignore the deaths. Granted it’s not deadlier to the younger demographic but still relevant.

This virus is definitely more frustrating to the young understandably

It also doesn't spread near as quickly not have the incubation time.
