sometimes he will get with the HOA and tell them when he is going to be in the neighborhood

Our HOA issues fines for mailboxes needing painting and for the brass numbers not being polished.

I used to paint curbs in the summers to make some extra cash from when I was off from teaching.

I usually got 4 customers a day and charged $85-$100 depending on whatbthe customers wanted. I had a stencil set and everything.

In Junior High School we used to blow up mail boxes with M-80s and Cherry Bombs for fun.

It's called a SIDE HUSTLE.

I think you need to look up the definition of side hustle. If he was doing it in his spare time away from his normal job, then yes. But sounds like this is his primary hustle the way it was described originally.

I know a guy who quit being a dentist and now builds mailboxes for a living. Not your single residence mailboxes but the big ones for apartment complexes or D.R. Horton type communities. He says he makes more doing this than he did as a dentist and he likes working outdoors.

Between that and this, I never knew there was so much money to be made in mailboxes.

Sounds to me like you know a guy that lost his dental license.

Maybe so. But he's still living like someone who makes dentist money and not like a blue collar residential construction worker.
