Sour beers are good if done right. I enjoy all beers. From light beers all the way to the pitch black porters. Instead of criticizing, try something new.

I tend to be more of a wheat beer girl. Three Floyds Gumballhead is my go to. But Ommegang’s Queen of the Seven Kingdoms was a good Belgium Sour/Blonde Ale combo. Some sours can get too sour for me.

What's the difference between a sour and a gose?

Gose is just a type of sour. It's brewed with salt. They are very hit or miss for me, but the ones I like I really like. Local place does a blood orange margarita gose that is delicious.

Ah, yes, one's palate is undeveloped if it doesn't appreciate sours.

I've been traveling to Asheville once per year the last three years to hike, raft and hit the breweries for three nights. What is the best sour in that town? Not the newest or most fringe, the generally accepted best, if that's possible. I'll give it a try. Thanks.

I mean you just said this

quote:

It's as if brewers got together and said, "Let's see how far we can push it and get people to say they like this crap simply to keep up appearances amongst their friends."

I replied with a statement just as dumb/absurd as yours.

Sours are my favorite style of beer. The Nola Funk Series is awesome. Great Raft also puts out some good ones. I do enjoy a Cucumber Lime gose while hanging out in the pool too, though.

If you're going into it thinking that a sour beer is going to taste like a "normal" beer, then it's going to catch you off guard. If you go into with an open mind, the results will be much better.
