I say marijuana should be legal but not medically. Sick people shouldn't be using drugs.

well said sir. sick people disgust me as well, and their rights are begging to be trampled upon. "waahh, it hurts." "waah, the chemo makes me vomit." hey, maybe if your body wasn't so used to being consoled by drugs the minute you feel the least bit of pain, cancer wouldn't be such a big deal for you.

The sick have had it too good for too long in this country. And now they want to use my tax dollars for dope? What happens if my kid gets sick at school? Does he have to smoke drugs? First he had to get an autism shot to go to school, now they say he has to do pot?

This country is going to shite.

It's not legalization, but a step closer. At least it will no longer make felons out of people caught three times.

or proof or indicia of legislative intent. [R.S. 1:13(B) and 24:177(E)]

HB 149 Original 2015 Regular Session Badon
Abstract: Amends the criminal penalties for second and subsequent convictions of possession of
marijuana and prohibits the application of the Habitual Offender Law when all underlying
criminal convictions are for possession of marijuana.
Present law provides for the following penalties with regard to the crime of possession of marijuana
or synthetic cannabinoids:

(1) On a first conviction, the offender shall be fined not more than $500, imprisoned in the
parish jail for not more than six months, or both.

(2) On a second conviction, the offender shall be fined not less than $250 nor more than $2,000,
imprisoned with or without hard labor for not more than five years, or both.

(3) On a third or subsequent conviction, the offender shall be sentenced to imprisonment with
or without hard labor for not more than 20 years, and may, in addition, be sentenced to pay
a fine of not more than $5,000.

Proposed law amends the penalties for possession of marijuana as follows:
(1) On a first conviction, proposed law retains present law.
(2) On a second conviction, the offender shall be fined not more than $500, imprisoned with or
without hard labor for not more than two years, or both.
(3) On a third conviction, the offender shall be fined not more than $2,000, imprisoned with or
without hard labor for not more than five years, or both.
(4) On a fourth or subsequent conviction, the offender shall be fined not more than $2,000,
imprisoned with or without hard labor for not more than eight years, or both.
Present law provides for increased penalties for habitual offenders, including offenders who have
been convicted of possession of marijuana or synthetic cannabinoids.
Proposed law retains present law penalties regarding synthetic cannabinoids and prohibits the
Habitual Offender Law from applying when all underlying criminal convictions are for possession
of marijuana

Still the option of six months of jail for first offense needs to be wiped out.

eh, the bill doesn't do much for smokers other than take away habitual offender and lower fines and jail time.

Yup. Giving drugs like pot to sick people is like letting aids people have sex.
