I don't know about that but a earthquake created tsunami would need to be greater than 7 which I believe has never happened(in recorded history) in the Gulf of Mexico. The last earthquake greater than 6 was in the 1800s.

The NWS in Lake Charles says that it would take an underwater landslide in the Mississippi Canyon for one to hit Louisiana and that a landslide there happens every 1000 years.
They run a tsunami simulation event every few years for landslides and earthquakes
Of course, they usually only simulate with earthquakes south of the Yucatan and say that the Yucatan and Cuba coasts are wave breaks and keep a tsunami from reaching us. Don't think they have ever run one for an earthquake north of Cuba

We had a 1000 year flood in 2016. So there is a chance.
