On June 28, the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested a Varnado area woman for improper sexual behavior with a male juvenile.

Rachel Marie Carrier, 34, a resident of Pigott’s Crossing Road, was placed in the Washington Parish Jail on charges of Carnal Knowledge and Contributing to the Delinquency of a Juvenile. Bond was set at $30,000. She met the conditions of the bond and was released on June 30.

The investigation by patrol deputies and detectives began after a complaint from the victim’s father regarding the sexual activity and the provision of cigarettes and alcohol to juveniles.

“Although the majority of sexual predators are male,” said Sheriff Randy Seal, “we sometimes encounter female predators. In this matter, an adult female took sexual advantage of a young male. This is unacceptable in any society. Our deputies and detectives acted quickly when they learned of this situation and were able to make a quick arrest. I congratulate them on a job well done.”

Any suspicion of sexual activity between an adult and a juvenile should be reported to the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office at 839-3434.
