No doubt. But after that is where your logic gets very flawed. Those with daddy issues are still much less likely to go to jail than not. More likely than the general population, but still not "likely" or probable.

Remember, the premise was that his kids WILL be a burden on society

Look, estimates of the prison population with ADHD are as high as 45%. Estimates of the prison population with any mental illness before incarceration is 50-75%. Alarming, yes. But those with ADHD or any mental illness are more likely to NOT be incarcerated than be incarcerated.

I'll make it even simpler for you. The vast majority of NBA players are black. However, being black does not make it likely that one will be a professional basketball player.

I know but at least have a little basic info before you mock the fact that 6 kids no longer have a father.

They likely wouldn't have known him very well anyway. That's if they knew him at all

I didn't say they were in all likelihood going to prison, I'm just saying that just about everyone in the prison system comes from this background. However I do stand by that Foster kids are more likely to end up in prison than not.

First off, I think ADHD is bullshite. If you're a high strung individual who doesn't have much of an attention span, I can certainly see this as being a high criminal mindset.

And mental illness goes without saying that they're more likely in the prison system. They're mentally ill, which means they can't fully function in society and perceive things much more differently than the average person does, which naturally leads to conflict, often violent.

You're saying something genetic though, not as background. Not once have I said or implied that this had anything to do with genetics. Don't give a frick about race, nationality, or color. You go into a prison, and 19 out of 20 fit the profile that I'm describing. Skin color is irrelevant in this situation.

I do not think he was innocent. But he was"not guilty". Fact

No doubt. There is a strong association of fatherlessness, especially in black males, and crime. But what you do not get is that STILL those with an absent father are less likely to go to jail than they are to go to jail. Much higher? Yes, in fact 10-20% higher. But still not likely. That is my only point. Remember, the premise was that these kids WILL be a burden to society.

So you agree it's the issue, but we shouldn't address it just because it's less than 50% of the people who don't have daddies that go to prison? Got it.

You see, now you are putting words in my mouth that I never even implied. Of course it needs to be addressed.

Remember, the premise was his kids WILL be a burden to society. It was that premise I took issue with. Just like when people say the black culture is violent, even though stats overwhelmingly show otherwise.

EDIT: ANd actually the premise was that he won't produce anymore kids that will be a burden on society. So it was not even about an absent father. In actuality, the rate of jail for blacks is 29-30%.

BUt STILL..Fact: "... the great majority of children brought up in single-parent families do well.

Cousin came from single parent home, he now makes around 67k per year. Sure he's not a burden.

Sister is a single mom, works, etc. Her son makes straight A's, ranked #2 in his Soph class(mostly all white school of 1200 students). Plays all 3 sports(football, Basketball, Baseball), being recruited by major Div 1 schools. Oh he's black. Doubt if he'll be a burden.

All depends on where you are raised and what environment you're raised in.
