Owned a 2004 Yukon w 5.3L V8
Put 290k mikes on it.
The interior will fail long before the motor.
But TBH if your kids are young (infants and toddlers), a fully loaded minivan is perfect. Hands free door openers and sliding middle seats are godsends.

Live in Illinois and have heavy winters, so 4wd is a must
No it's not. AWD performance is much better in snow. 4WD is for parking lot speeds, while AWD can handle highway speeds.

4High and 4Auto are both ideal settings for heavy snow on the Yukon, which also has 4Low and locking diffs for off roading.
The Yukons are excellent winter vehicles.

They are ok not excellent. Subaru is the best winter vehicle.
Oh and get her a mini van. More practical.

Wife and I have a 2014 (older body style) Yukon xl SLT. She was hesitant about it bc of the size going from an equinox to that but she loves it and won't drive anything else. We are at the beach now with three kids and my mom and had enough room for our crap plus beach crap with no problem. We looked at the 2015s when we bought hers but they were another 10k so I said, sorry honey, you get last years model lol.
