Meh. I think there are a few grown ups in here that can afford them. That said, you reacted a bit hard to some unprovoked bullshite.
I, myself, have no issue with ink. It's not for me but who am I to judge someone on something like that.
Now, back to the car.......
As a funny side note: I went from pulling the trigger on a 2016 Genesis to a 2016 SubieRex. It's as grown up as a WRX can be (white limited), but damn if I don't have the itch to mod it. The STI was too harsh for a daily driver for me.

I will say that the Genesis appears to have a nicer interior than the comparable Mercedes, BMW, and Audi - as well as the Jag XF. The price puts it really between the Jag XF and XJ. And I guarantee that most of the people commenting here have never been in several cars in the class. I really wanted to buy an A8 or a 7 series, but I could not get over how plain the dash looks and how their leather compares to the Jag XJ. I also had my eye on the badass performance version of the Jag XF ( the S version), but the interior of that didn't compare to the XJ. I'm sure the Genesis is a nice car, but they have a huge hump to get over. Hyundai isn't nearly on the level in the public eye of the other manufacturers that broke off their luxury divisions.

All of that is a fair assessment. They do have an image hump I really don't think they'll ever get past. But, if they did, the prices would increase accordingly and snuff out the primary benefit to them.
I'd love to have a luxury sedan, but we have limits to our company vehicle selection (hence the Genesis).......and I put 30k a year on mine. And, the wife drives a suburban as required (3 kids).

Panamera > XJ

The Panamera is by far my favorite car in the class - one of my favorite cars period. I hated them when I first saw pics. Eventually I saw one in person and absolutely loved it. A Panamera S is the one and only car that would completely satisfy my family and sport needs. My favorite is the Carbon Grey w/Luxor beige interior. I tried to talk the wife and kid into it, but we were buying the car for frequent long distance travel. They wanted something that allowed them to lay in the back seat (and the Panamera has that console between the seats in the back). Even though they didn't want it, when I had my deal made on my XJL I made an offer on a Carbon/Luxor Panamera in Atlanta. They turned down my offer, I bought the XJL, then a few weeks later they were advertising the car for less than what I offered.
I fricking love those cars. ETA: I actually prefer the '15 interior, which is what I have. The XJ went to the "quilted" interior in '16, and I think it looks cheesy (unless it's in something like a Bentley). And the Mercedes flat-as-a-board dash looks like crap to me.

2015 s550 interior blows away the 2015 interior on the xjl. But like you said... Preference.
