Yeah not looking for anything fancy. Just something easy to ride for up to like 5 miles I guess. I've only ever owned mountain bikes.

So if I'm looking at spending like max $500 total for 2, I should be able to find something pretty good second hand, right?

This. Unless you’re competitive, whatever feels good is good.

Two things I can’t live without:
1) détachable basket
2) fenders on both tires

Just about any bike shop can install those when you buy the bike, or if you buy used from not a store, you can take it in and have it done for pretty cheap.

No, I ride the bike. Scared to break a sweat on your way to Fashion Week—I mean home?

Or drop kids off at school like I do? He acts like this is some viable alternative for most people that don't live near downtown.

If the problem keeps occurring between you and different people, you eventually have to take a look in the mirror and quit blaming the different people.

We went over this. We agreed that you’ll never ignore me.

I sure would hate it if you never replied to my posts again, Rouge.

According to the OP, you should be able to ride 2+ miles in full dress attire over asphalt in the middle of south LA summer and not sweat or else you’re a lard arse

Yeah during the morning commute. Sure.

Do you not actually love in BR? From May until October this is a very real possibility for mornings. If it’s not north of 90 it’s low to mid 80’s with complete cloud cover and 75%+ humidity. That’s almost worse

What’s perfect bike weather?

ETA
And when I typed LA, I meant Louisiana, not Los Angeles

If 10 bike minutes in the morning gets you too sweaty to work effectively, this is why God made doctors.

It is amazing how Americans will fight tooth and nail to protect their habits.
