I always go above. I have a few spots below but they’re no secret.

I'll stay above during the day but at night there are a lot more green lights below but you have to watch for drunk assholes coming out of Margaritaville.

Here’s a local kid that’s also very impressive. Won state last year at 164lbs with a 1550 total.

Several years ago—I'm going to guess we were around 45 at the time—a buddy of mine and I decided to see what we could still bench at the gym one day. I was genuinely stunned by the results.

We started at something easy, like 180 or so, and just kept adding plates. Once we made it up to a little over 300, my shoulder announced that while my muscles could continue the exercise, my joints could not. That if I kept going, I might be signing up for a problem. So we quit there.

I was just surprised we could still lift that much, since we didn't train to do so.

I wouldn't have made it to 400, but I might have gotten to somewhere between 325 and 350.

None of this is true. You don't sit out from working out for long arse periods, hop in the gym, and start hitting reps working your way up to 300+ pounds. You would have been toast after the first set after the 180. You could have gotten away with the lie had you said....200 pounds. But 300+ with room to go? Goddamn some of you are sad lol

Maybe, MAYBE 245 if you’re a bigger guy, but this is so clearly a lie it’s laughable. Especially on an isolation exercise like bench press

These lifting stories from some people are hilarious considering that 0.1-0.4% of the general male population can actually bench 225.

Yeah he’s probably like 300 himself

That and/or him and his buddy were half repping it and counting that as a full rep

I personally play video games and drink Mountain Dew while eating potatoe chips to impress women…

I’m actually a running back in Madden 26 with 99 strength and 99 speed… So to be fair in Madden I can probably bench waaaaay more than what that kid did.

I do not lift.
Can you please explain her role.
I see this in videos from time to time.
I do not understand what the smaller person is suppose to do if the weights are crashing down on his neck. Or the person can’t lift weight off chest.

Still wouldn't have happened after being away from the gym for some time. The first 180 set would have been pretty difficult. If they went up to 225 next, they would have been toast IF they did that. It's purely fabricated, and I don't understand why people do that lol

Do you think the guy is just going to go limp?

I’m thinking he is pushing himself to the limit and might not be able to get it off himself. Or stop it from falling on his chest/neck.

She'd be able to help enough for him to rack it man. If the kids attempting 405 it's reasonable to assume he's hit a 365 or 385. If he can't complete the lift he won't need much help to rack it.

You don't need to be strong to be a spot.

When I was a JR in high school, was working out around 7pm in our very small town gym. Nobody else in there. Rookie me at the time put collars on, while benching 225. I could move it for 6-8 reps.

Tried one more than I should have that night and the bar got stuck on my chest. Could not dump it. Was stuck for a solid 2 minutes before 2 70ish year old ladies walked in and saved me

If he was to fail that lift, she prob would only have to lift no more than 30 lbs. Just because he fails at 405 doesn't mean he cant rep 1 at 370 lbs. If the weight crashes down on him that means he got injured and hes fricked regardless if there is only 1 person spotting.

Goat bodybuilder said his ex wife was his best spotter.
