plenty of people don't take care of their kids, and never wanted them in the first place. Plenty of mothers have postpartum depression, some never really get out of it.
Having kids changed my ex-wife into a different person, and that resulted in our divorce, I have seen it happen several times. I love my kids, and took care of them, we had a good relationship while they were growing up. They are all well educated, successful, and living there own lives now. Having said all that, if I had a chance to live my life over I would never have kids.

Gotta admit, that's kinda funny.

You're gonna catch a lot of shite, but I commend you for your honesty.
as for your ex, I've seen it happen to other women as well. I know a few moms who just seem miserable. Maybe it's the kids, maybe it's something else. But they are miserable, with kids, nonetheless. Certainly not jumping with joy because of their kids.

Breaking news: Everyone in this thread is correct. Whichever side you fall on the having kids discussion, life is about making it what you want it to be and owning those choices.
It’s not about shoving ur views down others throats or acting like your life and life views are greater than everyone else’s, which unfortunately happens all to often and has continuously in this thread.

I don’t mind that people don’t want kids for their own selfish reasons. I just don’t care to hear them try to validate their choice not to by trying to glam up how great their life is without them. I and many other parents are fortunate to have lived life on both sides of the fence and have the luxury of comparison. What I have learned is that the love of a child (both giving and receiving) is more cherished and meaningful than with any friend, lover, spouse, pet, etc. They are your prodigy and your legacy and your entire heart is invested in them. This is a love that those who do not ever have children can ever know. And that’s okay. But just know that we don’t think a “day of “ decision to weekend on Exuma Island could ever Trump a childhoods worth of nights cuddling our child in a bed and witnessing the innocence of childhood. Watching them grow and mature over years and celebrating their successes and milestones and comforting and teaching them in times of failure. My kids (ages 19-8) have been to Kauai 3 times and go on almost every vacation with me and my wife. Those memories are better and more lasting for me than if we’re just me and my wife. Memories shared by 6 instead of 2. I have jet setted around as a husband with no children and lived a life as a father of several. I know which is the more enriching and fulfilling life. Those who choose not to have kids for selfish reasons will never know and will regret this in their later years.

Mikel using "cocksuck" as an insult is pretty funny by itself.

More assumptions from people who think their way is the only way

If we're being honest, I don't think he meant it as an insult. I think Mikel was actually flirting. Or maybe testing the waters, to see what type of response he received. Kinda like he was sitting next to the OP in a bathroom stall, and tapping his foot twice.

I've had travels and life experiences greater than anyone on this website and having kids is still by far the best thing I've ever done.
That said, there's no way your kids would be as awesome as mine, so to each his own

Thank you for telling us what we will regret.
The only regret I have is marrying in the first place. :)

I can understand why you don’t want kids
I can understand why others do
But I can’t understand why you would want to post about it. To each their own.
The upside for those with kids is they won’t have to pass time at a kid’s game or recital making small talk with a tool like you.

No doubt those things would be a fun life, but none of that compares to the things I have experienced with my kids. Nothing!
If you were to offer me all that and be loaded with money, but have none of my kids. I would tell you to GFY.

Well, maybe not as awesome. But I would put any of my 4 sons, hopped up on marijuana, in a fight against any of your "awesome" kids, and bet any amount of money you name that my potheads whip yours arse.

Not surprising. You are not alone. A lot of shallow and self absorbed people regret making commitments.

Sex anywhere, anytime. That's about all I miss about not having a little one running around.
