Ive been seeing a baw riding around on his Harley lately with some kind of lanyard hanging from his handlebars nearly to the ground. I didnt ask him about it because I didnt want to get mudchecked. Any idea what this could be? It looks dangerous as frick to have something dangling like that.

Drive close, try to wrap it around your side mirror, then floor it

It’s called a “get back” whip. If a cage gets to close, pop em with that to make them get back. In practice though, they’re really just for looks. I’ve been riding for almost 35 years and have never seen one do anything other than hang on someone’s handlebar.

Usually the owner will get them in their club colors. For example if you see a red & white one, the rider is probably a Hells Angel. Red & gold would be in a Bandido’s bike, blue & white on a Devil’s Diciple bike. When I was a patch holder in Prometheus MC, some of our guys had black & blue ones. As for me personally, I never had one. Didn’t see the point.

This is the right answer. Although these days they are mainly for show, if you see one braided with a weight on the end, it is functional and can be used to whip around at cars and trucks getting too close

Bikers are brilliant. A 3000- 5000 lb vehicle gets too close to your motorcycle and the plan is to whip the car? That's a real good strategy.

I know this is the internet and all, but if you’re going to tell lies at least don’t be so blatant

Bikers are as dumb as pit bull owners.

I’m 48 years old and first started riding in the highway when I was 14.

48-14= 34 (which is almost 35, dumbass)
