Davis is 100% the Will. Payton said Baun will compete at Mike and Sam. I expect, if healthy, Anzalone is the starting Mike, at least for this year.

That leaves Alonso and Baun competing for the Sam snaps and spot duty at the other spots (not that Davis ever really comes off).

This is Anzalone's last contracted year so I imagine if he gets hurt again we'll likely move on from him and that is likely a big part of why we drafted Baun.

I think Baun starts at Mike because I think at some point he will be hard to keep off the field

Quute possible too, but I think starting out, because of the shortened offseason, the incumbent starters have a bigger edge to keep their jobs than ever before.

Things can DEFINITELY change as the season goes on and the rookies get comfortable. Same thing I think might happen with McCoy and Ruiz. McCoy may start at center but once Ruiz gets the line calls down they may switch.

I like how he talked about his ability to rush and drop in coverage. If you ave Davis, Davenport, Baun and CGJ in the box at the same time, that’s a lot of sped and versatility.

I hope Dennis Allen gets creative and brings some pressure this year.

The reggie bush one with Cesar Ruiz is good too.

Not much news, but there doesn’t seem to be much news coming out on him.

Fansided

The New Orleans Saints have done as good of a job in the NFL Draft over the past four or five years as any team in the NFL...

One of their most impressive values even looking back through the past couple of years is the 2020 third-round pick of Wisconsin linebacker Zack Baun.

Baun was projected to go somewhere in the first or second round of many/most mock drafts leading up to the 2020 selection process, and the Saints ended up getting him 74th overall.

quote:

The departure of AJ Klein opens up a full-time role in the New Orleans defense, and even the presence of veteran Kiko Alonso shouldn’t be enough to keep Baun off the field.

His versatility should get him on the field early in packages, but there’s no doubt that he could stay on the field as a rusher and give the Saints another option in the pass rush department besides Cameron Jordan and Marcus Davenport.

Ideally, the Saints would have Baun in the starting lineup to open the 2020 season along with a healthy Alex Anzalone and Demario Davis.
