They are feeling pressure. The letter from Mrs. Gayle is more powerful than most realize. It is not just that an owner of a team is expressing doubt on the integrity of the game but this is not Jerry Jones or the late Al Davis. This is is a newly made widow who has a lot of positive press out there and no history of being anything other than a supportive owner.

I do not think they like the way the true explanation of why the call was not made will play in the media. I assume it is because the back judge indicated the ball was tipped and the rest of the crew bought that without conferring. That makes the entire crew look suspect rather than just the two morons near the play.

I do believe at least 3 of these officials will never see a field again by the time the NFL deals with this.

The are waiting for the one rule they have to overturn it's time is up.

Once the commish overturn timeline has passed, you MAY get a halfassed "we will focus on fixing this" type explanation, but they will never admit it decided the game.

I expect the NFL statement to bury the lede:

There will be a broad recap of the whole game with missed and bad calls for both teams.

Which brings up another bad look for them. I've seen refs confer for an entire commercial break on calls before, in regular season games.

How do you not huddle up as refs on a play which is the deciding play of the game and talk it out? That makes it look even more suspect, this is the NFCCG.

NFL offices were closed yesterday for MLK Day. I'm sure Goodell will release the results of his full investigation by lunchtime today.

They're not responding because Roger Goodell doesn't give a frick.

The Saints win one super bowl, then they want to put a semi-death penalty on us with the bounty gate bullshite.

You think they're going to do anything about one blown call? They got what they wanted.

Their main goal is for the Saints to get sold to a larger market. They were hoping that it would happen sooner rather than later now that Tom Benson is gone.

I think Vinovich did not want to be seen as the guy who cost LA the game when the Rams had lost the last 8 he reffed.

I doubt it, bc then the narrative becomes, how did you get a pee-wee football ref crew on the championship game?

I think what's going to happen is they will say they are working to better the situation and come up with a solution for the future, but completely ignore details of this game.

The ref never said the ball was tipped to Robey, it was a teammate who told him that. If they thought the ball was tipped he would have made a gesture. They blew it, especially Cavaletto who was right where he was supposed to be.

coward shite if true, bc it would obviously be the Rams DB that cost the game, not the refs.

Now everything is focused on that call and it's a terrible look for the NFL bc other than the calls, the game was actually a good game.

But it's been 3 days and all we are talking about is the call, national radio, tv, media, local markets, etc.

one theory is that they are trying to come up with a way to fix this and right the wrong that was done to the Saints.

that's why its taking so long to respond.

just a theory

we may be a small market, but we dominate the market. they would be hard pressed to find a market who would perform better that doesn't already have a team

That would be an admission of the NFL Brand is at fault. There will be no admission of guilt.

I’m sure they are interviewing the crew, watching the footage, taking statements from other refs, listening to the audio and talking to lawyers to formulate a response.

I would expect to hear something from the league today.
