ESPN Article (Triplett)

quote:

“Adrian [Peterson] wants to hit the hole so hard. I have to be in a real hurry to get to my guy and make sure I get to him on the other side of the line, and I don't necessarily have to hold him forever. I can just kind of ricochet him and Adrian is going to make the runs. He wants to get downhill as fast as he can. ...

Every rb is different. Could you imagine being Roosevelt Nix blocking for Leveon Bell? He could book a hotel before Bell passes the line of scrimmage.

You should read the article. He says AD is the one that's different from all the other backs he's blocked for. Most backs are taught to set up the blocks and look for the hole. AD just wants to rip through the line.

Well that rush to the hole did MI no good for a year and a half lol.

Yup, and on the other end the dancing until you bounce to the sideline did Bush no good for about 2 and a half years.

Some of the locals in Minnesota have stated that Peterson was lining up deeper in the backfield than previously in his career along with some poor blocking may have hindered his running style particularly last season. If the hole isn't there he will make his own .

I think this is the fundamental core issue in the Ingram debate and it may have taken Kuhn to point out what it is.

The NFL is a fast reactive league. I myself have said that my issue with Ingram is his approach to the LOS and what I call the tiptoe approach. It is my believe that in the NFL if you are running a gap scheme or trap you have to take the ball hit the hole and trust that it is going to be there. If you are running a stretch play of course you are looking for the play to develop or looking for the cutback lane to open up.

To me this is the fundamental reason why Ingram receives so much angst on this and other boards. He is not a Barry Sanders type back, he isn't going to change directions or make guys miss in the backfield, so get the ball and go. Trust the line to make a hole and if it isn't there the film will show that.

His vision and patience is so damn fun to watch.

He bounces, waits, and bursts so fast through a hole. It would be unreal to have someone like him on this team

you realize he only has eight fumbles in his career vs AP's 34

Ball security is actually a strength of Ingram so try again.

He doesn't fumble a lot, but the times he has fumbled have been killer. I'm thinking against Seattle in the playoffs and at Kansas City.

Have an upvote. You bitches are so uptight. It was a joke. I chuckled.

I love AP's running style. It is so exciting to watch. He's explosive through the line. It's brutal and exciting at the same time.

I'm going to really enjoy watching all 3 of our backs this season. Most exciting backfield we have had since Sproles and Ivory were here.
