Agreed. Anybody who bitches about individuals getting paid under a negotiated contract with a business are dumbarses.
Meanwhile, our defense sucks donkey balls.

Any jack arse can look backwards and decide if an investment was worth it, but it's a bit harder to project future value. Based on Brees' 2011 season, and the preceding 4 seasons, I would say there was no other alternative than to pay the man and pay him big. He's having a mediocre year (by his standards), true, but I am pretty damn sure he'll bounce right back, just as he did in 2009 and 2011, coming off of less than great / high interception seasons.

Well said. The thing is some of these Drew Brees worshippers will Not tolerate any critcism even when it is accurate. They just won't stand for it. They'd rather ban everyone who doesn't suck his jock 24/7 and make this place like another Saints message board, where you pump sunshine or you get run off.

He got his money. The question now is...is he earning it?

So far the answer is hell to the no.

For five years he was easily the most underpaid QB in the league.

Ryan Fitzpatrick and Kevin fricking Kolb made more than him last year.

I look at it like its back pay

I don't care what Drew makes, as long as it doesn't cause us salary cap problems.

Thats not how it works....

He didnt have any problems signing that contract when he didnt have one and the saints and the dolphins were his last shot. we took a huge shot on him and it paid off. doesnt mean we owe him shite though.

But the fact that he's been the best QB in the league since we signed him, does mean we had to pay to keep him. Pay we did, and I couldn't be happier, no matter what you bunch of jealous dingle-berries say.

I was happy we retained him as well. The reason i'm not happy is because he hasnt been playing like he deserves to be the highest paid player in NFL history.

He's had 2 bad games. The whole team has been slumping this year, it happened in 07 and 08, and he had a bunch of picks in 2010.

He's the same Brees that we paid for, but this stuff happens. He will be fine. Next season:

CSP back
Defense adjusted to spags' scheme and possibly some new players
Brees following up a high-int season

We are going to be wrecking face all of the NFL once again and these "Drew Brees is overpaid" threads will evaporate like a fart in the wind.

He really isn't the highest paid QB in terms of salary cap hits, and I don't think he ever will be

This year, Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, Eli Manning, Stafford, Mark Sanchez, Tony Romo, Rivers, Vick, Matt Ryan, Carson Palmer, Big Ben are all taking bigger cap hits.

Next year, I know at least Peyton Manning and Tom Brady are taking bigger cap hits. Then you have the salary cap going up and Aaron Rodgers + Tom Brady getting new contracts. I doubt he'll be the highest cap hit in any one of those seasons
