I realize that it's the next day after a bad loss. I understand being disappointed with Brees and the Saints. Believe me.

But why do people constantly attack his salary?

Why do you that seem so concerned with it care what he makes?

No one on this board or any other is paying his salary.

So.....why?

I don't. I did not care for the holdout tbh but the backlash here has been ridiculous.

Basically, jealous people

Probably bc they're jealous that they don't make that kind of money. And have nothing else say about him.

Really?

I'll bite.

These dude makes 40 mil this year and will average 20 the years after. When you put that much into one player, your success basically lives and dies with him. Some people, myself included are just sort of tired of our success always hinging on well Brees plays. While we wouldn't be anywhere without him and wouldn't trade him for any other QB, it's just frustrating sometimes.

Fans love insulting salaries.

It's even more strange that LSU fans insult Les Miles' salary.
That's not even in a salary cap!

And next few seasons, after Peyton gets a big bonus or raise, he'll lose a game.
And all these "fans" will come back asking "Well, is Payton REALLY worth all that money?!!!!"

I never here fans bitching about a players salary when they're winning but if they lose a couple games, all of a sudden the contract becomes an issue

Probably because it eats up so much of the salary cap and forces us to make big sacrifices at other positions of need. My only problem with him is we heard so much about how he was a team first player and was willing to sacrifice to win. Then he demanded to be the highest paid player in the NFL. The holdout hurt the team without Payton here to manage it. When we needed a team first leader the most, ours was missing. Still our QB, and still a great guy, just kind of put him into perspective for me.

I understand what you're saying and you are correct. But alot of these people that I've been seeing lately aren't thinking on these lines. They word things in a way that you would think they pay his salary or something. It's annoying as hell to me for some reason.

so that means he can't ever have a bad game or two? He has to be Godly all the time?

when you're the QB of a NFL team, the success DOES hinge on how well the QB plays (see Eagles, Bills, Browns, and Jags, for example). It's the most important position on the entire field!

Don't get me wrong. I felt this way slightly. But at the same time, and I may be wrong here, he deserved to get paid. Maybe not quite as much as he did. But he earned it I believe.

And it's not like they didn't try to play hardball with him on the deal. He played back.

Ppl care how much Drew makes because teams have a salary cap and can only spend as much money on players as the salary cap allows and if one player is using a % of it then you can only spend (1-%) on all the other players duhh

I think he did too. He has been playing at a greatness level and deserved to be paid. My issue was that he claimed all the way that he wasn't about the highest paid stuff and cared more about winning than that. Than he held out to be the highest paid. If he had never said that stuff, nothing to complain about.

Well played sir

And I'm not even saying he doesn't deserve that much money because he has thrown a lot of int's this year and cost us a few games. But when you are going to make more money than anybody in football, then he deserves to catch some heat when he plays like he did the past two weeks.
