Michael Thomas
No debate here. Technically, Thomas was the most efficient wide receiver in football last season, catching 87 percent of the passes targeted for him by Drew Brees, and the Saints would like to have the First Team All Pro receiver continue that success as he plays the final year of his current contract. The Brees to Thomas connection is the best in the league, and the numbers say so.

Ted Ginn
Ginn came off the injured reserve late last season, and with some tremendous results, getting in position to catch the third and 20 call late in the Pittsburgh game that helped set up the go ahead touchdown by Michael Thomas. The Saints want a player of his experience to help fill out the No. 2 receiver spot that was a source of some trouble all season long.

Cameron Meredith
There was some concern that Meredith would not make it in 2019 to have a second chance at becoming a contributor given that he was placed on injured reserve last year because of a knee injury. But it looks like the team is willing to take another shot on the slot receiver after restructuring his contract in a way that he will cost less this coming season. The Saints have reason to take another swing on the Meredith experiment given his production from the slot, where he has emerged as one of the most efficient pass catchers here recently.

Tre’Quan Smith
A rookie last season, Smith predictably had his ups and downs. But his ups were noteworthy. He finished with 28 catches off 44 targets, scored five touchdowns, and had 427 total yards. Though there were some costly drops, there was also some crisp route running, and Smith showed he can get into position to make big plays and get deep. That was his specialty in college, catching 71 percent of passes of 20 or more yards, and the chief talent the Saints want to exploit the most. Smith went into the history books by catching the 62 yard touchdown pass that pushed Drew Brees into No. 1 in career passing yards in NFL history.

Austin Carr
Carr played in 14 games for the Saints this past season and started in a pair of contests, seeing more reps when Ginn and Meredith were unable to take the field and especially after Dez Bryant was lost prematurely to injury. On 275 snaps, he finished the year with nine catches against 14 targets for 97 yards, but scored on two of those receptions, against the Eagles and Falcons.


Keith Kirkwood
Originally an undrafted free agent from Temple, Kirkwood impressed in the preseason enough to get a practice squad spot. From there, he was promoted to the active roster in Week 10, catching 13 passes for 209 yards and two touchdowns in eight appearances. He made his postseason debut in the NFC Divisional Round against the Eagles, where he had two catches and scored a touchdown.

Travin Dural
The Breaux Bridge native went undrafted from LSU last spring before landing with the Saints. A minor shoulder injury landed Dural on the team’s non football injury list following a collegiate career that saw him endure shoulder, hamstring, and knee ailments, and then he missed the 2018 season because of a broken arm. He has a lot to prove to the Saints this offseason before they give him a roster spot, for which he will be in some stiff competition this summer.

Simmie Cobbs
Two seasons ago, Cobbs had 72 receptions for 841 yards and a career best eight touchdowns before joining the Saints late last season after turning down an offer from the Redskins, but his time in New Orleans was brief before he was placed on injured reserve. In his collegiate career, he had 12 scored and 1,990 yards while tying for fourth place in Indiana football history with seven 100 yard appearances.

Lil’Jordan Humphrey
Humphrey played in 36 games and started 18 for the Longhorns, ending his collegiate career with 125 receptions for 1,622 yards and 10 touchdown catches.

He finished his collegiate career as the ninth Texas player with 1,000 yards receiving in a season, a number he surpassed this past year, leading the team with 86 catches for 1,176 yards and nine scores.

Humphrey is also the first Texas player who is not a quarterback since the 1982 season to have a passing, rushing, and receiving touchdown in the same season, which he did last year.

Deonte Harris
Harris is one of the most prolific return specialists in college football history, finishing his career with the NCAA All Division record for combined return touchdowns, returning a kick 100 yards in what was his 14th career touchdown return. He also has the NCAA Division II records for combined return touchdowns and single season touchdowns returned.

In his 45 game career as a collegian, Harris caught 226 passes for 2,897 yards and scored 28 touchdowns as a receiver, in addition to 32 rushes for 244 yards and three touchdowns, returned 63 kickoffs for a combined 2,051 yards with six touchdowns, and brought back 48 punts for 981 yards and eight touchdowns.

Cyril Grayson
A native of Kenner who prepped at Rummel, Grayson never played a down of football for the Tigers, instead attending the university on a track and field scholarship. He had intended to try out for the football team, but rules kept him from going out for a major sport while on the track scholarship.

Grayson had a decorated career with the LSU track team doing sprints and relays, finishing a four time NCAA Champion, seven time Al American, and five time All SEC athlete.

Emmanuel Butler
Butler appeared in 45 games for Northern Arizona, scoring 33 total touchdowns. After missing all but two games in 2017 with a shoulder ailment, Butler returned to action last season as a redshirt senior, catching 35 passes for 676 yards with seven touchdowns in nine games. Butler is the Lumberjacks’ all time leader in receiving yardage and touchdown catches.
