re: Which RB do you keep and who do you let go?

ETA: how often do you put two full backs on the field?
I don't think they did that. I know they kept Jed Collins and Kory Hall. Hall played special teams alot, but Collins was in the backfield mostly. I can't see them keeping 2 FBs when there are needs at RB, TE, and CB. I would say OL, but our OL has a tendency to keep healthy.

We all know you can never have enough RBs if you plan on making a deep playoff run.
We lost a starter in the first quarter of the last two playoff games we lost. You don't want to get stuck with Julius Jones at the last minute. Hell, that happened in 2000 when we got stuck with a 52 year old Terry Allen.

preseason cinderella running backs, every year there's a new one.
You are right. This is the norm for the Saints these days. The Saints usually keep the best ones (PT, Ivory). I remember Hill and J. Bell both got snatched off the PS, but don't recall either doing much.

Having Thomas back will end the two fullbacks I think

Pros:
Ivory-
Big bruising back who can get tough yards.
Experienced
Brings a skill set different than PT & Sproles
Cadet-
Looked good in practice and preseason (so far)
Can contribute on special teams
Cons:
Ivory-
Injury/Injury/Injury
No help on special teams
Cadet-
No experience
Similar skill set as PT & Sproles
Did I miss anything?
If it weren't for injuries, Ivory is the clear choice. The only good thing about letting Ivory go is that you may be able to trade him for a mid to late round draft pick.
In all honesty. It's too early to tell.

True, but after a little limited time that I've been able to watch Cadet, I think he has something different. I think he needs to be on a roster and will make some team better.

Even Herb Donaldson had time with the Cowboys.
I have faith in our scouts and Loomis finding another good young guy off the trash heap.

I don't think one game wonder Cadet is going to supplant Ivory, at least not yet.... now, if Ivory continues to put the ball on the turf in practice, as has been the daily practice report, then yeah, i could see it....
but let's not just toss aside what Ivory has done for this club to this point.... Cadet, IMO, still has a ways to go before he earns a roster spot, and i don't think there a snowball's chance in hell he'll clear waivers to be put on the practice squad.... just hope he doesn't land in the NFC South, because he's just talented enough to be a real pain in our side for years to come if so....

Oh good, youre back. Let the season begin.

it's a shame you are so closed minded.... i actually have a lot of POSITIVE review of what i saw the other night out of this team....
the point being, i'm still going to call it like i see it... but as of right now, barring injuries, i can't see this team not going a long, long way this season, even without Payton...
i know that doesn't fit your "ultra-negative' view of me, but at least try to keep an open mind.... i mean, after all, not everyone here at every single moment agrees with each other's ideas, and sometimes, they have to keep an open mind in respect to your position..... it's cool, though.... if you want be the board badass and throw a pissy party about it, that's cool..... don't see the reason, unless you are just really that pathetic (which i don't think you are, but just sayin'), but i guess you can't be told anything the contrary.....

1. All i said was let the season begin.
2.ELLIPSES... they make you sound smart.
3.
This passive aggressive insult rolled ina CYA statement followed by another passive aggressive insult made me laugh. People are funniest when they arent trying to be. Glad youre back.

would you rather commas, or exact sentence formulation? btw, on any forum i have ever posted on, i post the exact same way.... just like i do here...

and yet you call me passive agressive....
look, i'll be the first to admit, as i have many, MANY times.... i'm not just going to say how great this team is if they aren't.... if that doesn't jive with you, sorry.... i don't believe that we have to be lemmings and follow blindly to be a fan.... you can be realistic, almost even negative at times, and still be a staunch supporter of a team.... you obviously don't feel the same way, and feel that any non-"pro" comment basically infers that the person saying it is indeed a "lesser" fan or not a fan altogether.... it's very narrow minded, and pretty irrational, as i see it, but whatever.... i get that about you.... i can work around that, as i see that i am going to have to anyway...

CYA statement
it wasn't... if i wanted to sink to your level, i would.... i have no interest in straight up attacking other fellow saints fans via an internet forum..... i'm confident enough in my real life that i don't have to e-thug or be the coolest, most accepted here to validate my existence.....

Damn. One bad preseason and everyone wants Ivory gone? Dude's been a beast when he's on the field. I like Ivory.
