What’s our cap room going to look like?

Assuming Drew does not take a pay cut. Will most of our dead money be gone so we can make a move or two?

Brees should seriously consider taking a huge pay cut to allow the team to be stacked for the last hoorah or 2.
With him being involved in so many retail food establishments in Who Dat Country, being the GOD who put team first, and got another Superbowl or two, would make that 30 something million look like peanuts.
Drew, look to the future, baw. The Who Dat nation will support a selfless Saint. You can make up the money with Walkons, Jimmy Johns, DD, and your future gig as mayor, governor, or congressman.
You have a chance to be a hero.

He's not going to take a pay cut in order to give other players more money.
He's playing to support a life for his kids, grandkids and probably future generations.
Drew admires himself for his hard work and dedication in football, and he believes the high pay is his reward.. which I agree

I don't disagree that a man should be paid for his own hard work; I'm just saying that he should forego some of his current payment for an even larger payout in the future. This future payout would come from another superbowl, endorsements, and a heightened demi-god status that would push fans to his businesses.
Also, I think he has set up those kids and grandkids and great grandkids very nicely.
Finally, I will NEVER spend money at one of his businesses if he takes around 17.5% of the total cap space, which would not allow the saints to help him win. I like to look out for team players; I don't like greedy frickers. And, if you didn't know, us Saints' fans are Saints' fans first.
Sometimes those hyper greedy frickers can't even see that taking less to help the whole can help them even more in the end.

It is unAmerican to begrudge a man for getting paid. Even though being a fan of a sport with a salary cap makes it difficult. Remember, the Saints sign those contracts as well.
Personally, i would have coach Payton lead the negotiations with Brees. Tell him that it would be the ultimate stick in the eye of Goodell/nfl to take a team friendly deal and sign others to make a run (or 2).
No, this will never happen.

I'll wait for bonethug's input.
So ready for the off season.

At this point he probably feels taking a paycut won’t help. If the NFL doesn’t want you to win a super bowl, you simply won’t. So may as well make all the money you can.

There's more at play than just Brees own desires. The players union would go absolutely batshit if Brees took a large paycut because it would set a negative precedent for other players for the future. Whether or not Brees cares about pissing off the union anymore this late in his career is something only he knows.

why bother even
sign hulk hogan and the junk yard dog because its a fake dog and pony show
its not a game and they dont even pretend that its fair anymore so none of that shite matters
do whatever you want, sign anyone you want, go undefeated for 17 games even, then the NFL tells officials to not let you win so you cant play in the SB again
