But we picked Davenport who is on IR (as usual) for another team.

Gotta love it

Blew my mind

I was 100% sure we were taking Lamar.

I was as shocked as the 1999 with Ricky Williams trade.

I remember when we traded up, all the speculation and TV pundits were sure that we were taking Lamar

I still can’t believe we passed.

Unreal.

The whole world thought we were taking him.

Minnesota Miracle

Rams no call

Tampa Bay signing Brady and he convinces Gronk and Antonio Brown to join him … injuring Thomas at end of a blowout game, beat them twice in regular season but losing in playoffs

Well Sean was the one who passed on him

this would require him to have actually gotten better at drafting and coaching. both things he has not.

Aside from 17’ , the Saints org. has been abysmal on draft night historically.

The Saints have a history of this sort of thing. In the 1996 draft, they drafted Eric Molden in the first round. Still on the board at that time were Eddie George, Eddie Kennison, Marvin Harrison, and Ray Lewis, to name a few.

I would bet most teams have stories like that, it just frustrates me that there seem to be so many for the Saints.

This is such a dumb argument to try to make. You could do the same shite for every other team in the nfl

It's a fan board, it's where we come to vent our dumb arguments

That draft was a pet peeve of mine. The Saints needed help at RB and WR but opted to draft a DB in the first and second rounds. I guess to be fair they needed help everywhere but that draft was an exercise in poor evaluation, IMO.

1996 Draft.

1 11 Alex Molden Cornerback Oregon
2 40 Je'Rod Cherry Defensive back California
3 70 Brady Smith Defensive end Colorado State
4 103 Ricky Whittle Running back Oregon
5 136 Mercury Hayes Wide receiver Michigan
5 145 Tom Ackerman Guard Eastern Washington
5 165 Terry Guess Wide receiver Gardner–Webb
6 179 Keno Hills Guard Louisiana–Lafayette
6 204 Toderick Malone Wide receiver Alabama
7 246 Henry Lusk Tight end Utah

Hey man its not a dumb post. The fact is this organizations front office
has sucked .Sean Payton could`nt pick his nose in the draft and Mickey
has shown he`s not any better. Either they totally relied on the scouting
reports or their ability to judge football talent is horrible.

Check out the Bill Curry trade in ‘67. They have been at it since before they ever took the field.

Curry was selected by the New Orleans Saints in the 1967 NFL expansion draft on February 9 after he was left unprotected by Vince Lombardi who chose to keep Ken Bowman as the Packers' new starting center.[1] Curry never saw action for the Saints who traded him one month later on March 6 to the Baltimore Colts along with three draft picks, one of which was that year's first overall selection (Bubba Smith), in exchange for Gary Cuozzo, Butch Allison and a 1967 seventeenth rounder.

But they told me Sean Payton was an offensive savant who knew QBs.
