JJ now sucks donkey balz and Vacarro is future all-pro.

Slowly removes Saints glasses.
Never have I ever said Vacarro would even be all pro. The more I see the more I like, but even an average safety(which I think he can be) is better than worst 2 safeties in the league.

If the Saints draft just 1 impact defensive player in this draft, it's a success given their track record.

we just having seen enough of those to 3 to warrant saying "that's it we got our pass rush"

Because of the scheme. The change from 4-3 to 3-4 is huge for those guys. Our front 7 talent and depth looks totally different simply changing the alignment.

I think having Vaccaro on the field will help us disguise things better. Having Harper on the field is saying "I'm blitzing, and if I'm not blitzing, you should throw to whoever I'm covering."

hat's what they are suppose to do, we just having seen enough of those to 3 to warrant saying "that's it we got our pass rush" and no I'm not saying that Jones is proven I'm just saying without any proven guys at OLB why not take a chance on who many feel is the best one in the draft.

Well we're not done in the draft. Even if we don't address it in the draft we can get a veteran pass rusher at a discount afterwards.

Sad but true, and funny.

Yasinkas' thoughts, which I agree with:

I agree with the for the most part (I really wanted Jones as well), but he said "I have to wonder if the Saints would have been better off going with a pass-rusher."

There was really only one pass rusher in consideration (I know people were starting to fall in love with Tank, but he obviously wasn't a real option there). It isn't like the Saints has many options for pass rushers, and passed on Mingo, Jones, Ansah, and Dion Jordan at the same damn time. Apparently there was something they didn't like about Jones, whether it was his medical issue, or lack of workout numbers.

Like I said, I really wanted Jones, but the Saints will never pick reach for a position (which is what almost seems like Yaskinas is implying). If they had Vaccaro rated higher than Jones (which they obviously did), then I can respect that and be ok with the pick.

Dude you are all over the place. Talking straight out your arse.

My favorite so far is this one.

I just think it's ridiculous people act like he's Troy Polamalu or Adrian Wilson.

Perfect example of you just making shite up to try and make the pick look less appealing.

WE ALL WANTED JONES!!! but it didn't happen. Why not? We can only speculate. but it seems that Vaccaro was obviously the Saints BPA at a position that was terrible last season. No way they would draft him at #15 if they didn't plan on him playing right away.

Was Jones the better prospect? Absolutely he was. But thay had their reasons why they didn't select him so we need to get over it and move forward.

Vaccaro was the best safety in the draft and the Saints are expecting him to make an immediate impact... so that should be our expectations as well.

Had we passed on Mingo or Jones I agree it may have been a mistake, but there is a reason Jones didn't go top 5 or 10 and the Saints had him rated much lower than Vacarro.

Typical people overreacting to someone they built up in there head for weeks.

Several have mentioned that pitt taking JJ proves he was a better pick than Viccaro because well. they are pitt and they always know what they are doing when it comes to LB's.
here are their LB pics in the draft since 2003.

They nailed it in 2007.

Otherwise you make the call

Sean Spence 3rd R
Chris carter 5th R
Thadius Gibson 4th R
Stevenson Sylvester 6th R
Bruce davis 3rd R
Mike Humpel 3rd R
07
Woodley and Simmons 1st and 2nd round
Rian Wallace 5th
Alonzo Jackson 2nd R

Exactly, that was my complaint with what Yasankis said. We didn't pass on a whole position, we passed on a single player with many red flags.

I see Woodley. After that, yeah I have to say Pitt doesn't just turn guys into stars. In fact seems like a lot of busts to me.

You're right. I'm talking straight out my arse by copying and pasting scouting reports. You want to be happy about the pick...great...he won't be a pro bowl player though and that's what you need to expect at 15.

So you and me are in agreement that even the great and mighty Pitt can miss on players yet still have a good defense and players?

Maybe it's one of the greatest defensive coaches and schemes in the history of the NFL that makes them look great and not their drafting?

That's just absurd.

My point being that Jones will not be nearly the player everyone is making him out to be and we had no chance at Mingo so no one was there to take at OLB anyway.
