you have to get both of the 1st 2 challenges correct to be awarded a 3rd challenge (ETA: a team will have a MAX of 3 challenges in a game)

I said it last night and I'll say it again... CSP needed 5 challenges last night

I was completely fine with both challenges. And to the commentators who continue to mention, “oh look here’s a miss by the refs, but Payton is out of challenges,” as if it’s some sort of strategic error. You get two challenges for a reason. You shouldn’t need infinite challenges because you would expect professional, paid refs to do their damn job. I don’t understand half of the calls on the field that caused us to waste challenges or the Beasley spot. If you aren’t fast enough to see or run to spot the ball then you shouldn’t be a ref.

yes that's true... but if his receiver comes up and says "I caught it"... he's going to believe his receiver

I wish he had that challenge later too

the Cole Beasley catch shouldn't have even needed to be challenged if the refs had done their job correctly

that's the call that aggravates me to no end

either Dallas has to try a ~53 yd FG, go for 4th & 1.5, or punt and try to down the Saints deep

in 2 of those 3 situations... the Saints are about to get the ball back where a TD wins the game and has more than 3:00 to get the job done

It gave us 15 yards and a first and goal. CSP knew at that point that points would be hard to come by. I'm fine with the challenge.

You shouldn't need more than 2 (or 3) challenges per team per game.

The fact that the refs continued to make horrific calls doesn't make CSP bad for using his challenges the way he did.

The poor decision was letting Thomas decide whether he caught the ball or not. The ref had a pretty clear view.
The ref had a clear view on the helmet to helmet lunging him on Kamara and it was not called. You cannot simply assume they got it right because they were in position to see it.

Everyone needs to be real though. Payton wouldn't have made it to the Beasley first down without using his last challenge anyway.

Remember the Cooper 3rd down catch that the entire defense starting waving incomplete because someone punched it out of his hands at the end? I guarantee he would have challenged it because Dallas hurried to the line.

Sean shouldn’t have to challenge every other damn play to get the correct outcome.

This, even if he wins the first challenge and gets a third, he would have needed about 4 more than that to challenge all the bad calls being made.

and even then you can't challenge stuff like the helmet to helmet hit on Kamara

Going for it instead of kicking the FG was worst.

even Stevie Wonder knew what play Sean would call on a 4th and 1

disagree...we've going for it in those situations all season and have been successful for the most part. You have to take the good with the bad on those. I didn't love the playcall but didn't oppose them going for it

I just felt at the time that it would be better to at least get the points to give your offense some motivation moving forward

The first challenge is on MT13. He was emphatic that he caught it. That was the worst one. The second one was fine because he won it. It would have been nice to have challenges reset in the second half. There was at least 2-3 calls that we could have used them on. Especially, the Beasley “1st down”.

clearly Dallas was playing their superbowl and the Saints, for whatever reason, were flat.

If you don't think motivation and emotion can massively improve a teams performance, especially defense, then I will repeat, you need to watch more football.

Give it a few years man, it takes time.

Its absolutely idiotic that you should ever lose a challenge if you are correct that the referees made a mistake. I get you can't get unlimited challenges, but you should be able to challenge until you incorrectly use two. If the whole point of the replay is to get it right, and they don't, you simply should not lose that challenge.

But as several have said, the big mistake was letting Thomas talk you into challenging the first one. We had the ball, it was the first half, so if you're not sure I'd call time out and let the coaches in the press box review the play before I would blindly make that challenge.
