USC's Cushing moving up the draft board.

per Kiper:
Saints could find Bush's running mate
"They're only a step away from being one heck of a football team," Kiper said. So what's that next step?
The Saints, who pick 14th, are already loaded on offense, led by Drew Brees, Reggie Bush and Marques Colston. But the addition of a power running back would make an already potent offense even deadlier, especially after the loss of Deuce McAllister. One possible pick for New Orleans is Chris "Beanie" Wells, the powerful running back from Ohio State. He would compliment Bush and make him a better player.
However, there are holes on defense that need to be addressed. Darren Sharper was signed in the offseason to fill the gap at free safety and, though he's getting old, he's the best option because there are no free safeties to consider in the middle of the first round, Kiper said. So if they go with defense, an outside linebacker would be ideal to compliment Jonathan Vilma and Scott Fujita. A good option would be USC's Brian Cushing, who has been skyrocketing up draft boards in recent months.

I like it. I'm not on board with taking a running back with our first pick. We need to get another OLB to go with Vilma and Fujita.

Do these guys ever forecast trades with their "analysis?" I'm not saying the Saints won't be picking at #14, but I'm thinking that these guys have to realize that the Saints don't have much in the way of picks this year.

hopefully bitch tits sky rockets all the way up to #12

I think BC has actually gone down of late. He might be higher than way back but many have Matthews past him in all around ability.

Cushing at 14
Matthews at 14
Just cause we need an OLBer doesn't mean we need to pick one at #14.

Yeah, a RB is much more important.

All for not. We are picking Jenkins at #14, if we don't trade down.
End Thread.
End Thread.

Not saying it is, but the CB's, RB's and OT that would likely be available to the Saints at 14 are better than the OLBers available.

Yeah!!! So let's go with a RB to add to an offense that NEVER RUNS THE frickING BALLLLLLL!!!
Your right, Sean Payton never runs the ball.
Signed,
Deuce McAllister '06
Ever think we are missing a true running back and that's why we don't run the ball?
BTW, I like the P. Jerry pick as well. Ellis, Jerry and Pressley would create a young talented three man rotation.

I don't really like the cushing pick, but it makes sense in draft logic. One of the saints biggest need in the draft is OLB. We have sured up the defensive backfield and don't "need" a RB. Cushing is projected to go right around the saints pick so it makes sense that the saints could draft him.
I do agree with the above post that these mock draft gurus do not consider trade possibilities, but they are very unpredictable. If you look back to past drafts the first round has a ton of trades all throughout the round. Saints best option is to trade back, but we'll see.

Trade down or get Moreno who is a better running back than Beanie Wells. We need a stud RB.

I'm gonna use this in my argument for why we need to look into Michael bush, take a RB with one of our second day picks, or see if the Bush/Thomas/Bell rotation will work.
I think this cat is referring to the post second-knee-injury-to-Deuce seasons. I don't think we need to take a RB with 14 cause last year we had the #1 offense in the NFL. I personally would like to see if Mike Bell can be the between the tackles running back we need. If we had any sort of D last year we could have been contending for the SB and you all know it. Having a bruiser RB would not have made as much of a difference last year as say a ball-hawking safety.
IMO i think we need to trade down and get into the second round.

The fact that we usually passed on 3 and short or did not convert 3rd or 4th and shorts with the run tells me we probably need a power RB.

What you fail to realize is that if the Saints can acquire a good between the tackles RB, that within itself can help out the defense b/c the can pound the ball, acquire first downs, and maintain ball control throughout the game. There were at least four games last season that was lost pretty much b/c the Saints offense couldn't convert a 3rd and 1.

And before you say Payton doesn't run the ball, look at Deuce in 2006, J. Jones in Dallas and Tiki Barber/R. Dayne in NY.

Not to mention, if you're a person sold on the Saints being the "best" offense in the NFL, how good do you think it would be with a franchise RB? If that's your stance, then the offense should be downright scary if it could run the ball as well.
