We do know the saints wanted Bowe and Dorsey both times the Chiefs got in the way

quote:

Saints picked Jean-Baptiste (58) over Landry (63) and Turner (92).

Jean-Baptiste is the only player i rooted for the saints not to pick in the Payton era, he had bust written all over him. No one could say that turner would have the top of success he has had. Also the saints were not going to double dip at receiver

Way too many words.
I’m not claiming a bias.
Collins could have been from Idaho State and we should have drafted him in the 7th round.
I would like to see the 5 downvotes respond.

Thank Jeeeezus for Jeff Ireland.

If Arden Key is available, do you draft him in the 7th round?

IMO NFL told teams not to draft Collins because it would like bad. Him being questioned for a murder and all

Possibly....but Dallas “recruited” him after the draft.

True, but I do think there is something this to this theory that the Saints purposely bypass LSU players. With Collins no other team was in a better position to examine the situation than the Saints. Being only 80 miles away they could have easily investigated it and seen that there was little risk in taking him on day 2 of the draft.

At this point, Collins' agent did the calculations, according to Klemko, and decided it was better for his client to go undrafted. The big differences were the amount of guaranteed money and the length of his first contract.

It is not an agent or players decision to go undrafted.
It is teams decision not to draft him.
Saints should have taken a shot at him (no pun intended) in the 7th.
Very little to lose with tremendous upside value.

He wasn't gonna sign the deal. Then it would of been wasted pick.

He got 4 times what a 7th round pick would of got money wise

Correct....
Sign the deal or sit out a year?
Worst case scenario for Saints is a waisted 7th round pick.
We would have missed out on Marcus Murphy playing one year of special teams.

I know for a fact he was not coming here. He didn't want to stay in Louisiana and chose the Cowboys bc of their already fairly complete line.

He chose Dallas because he could've axe murdered his entire family, and Jerry Jones wouldnt have given a frick.

It's always a fickle draft with teams percieved needs and and picks made prior to Saints selecting. It may be me but we were scooped on players constantly. Weather it be LSU or Texas Tech talent. We can all agree Jeff Ireland has had us more prepared in the last two drafts for such events.

Didn’t work for the Charlotte hornets when they drafted a bunch of players from the UNC national championship team back in the day (Sean may, Raymond Felton, Rashad McCants). They were still trash

Rashad McCants never played for the Bobcats.

Pretty much. It's the most logical explanation imo as well.
