From the link, about the guy:

He has held major fund-raisers for such causes as a $1 million boundless playground known as Kidz Konnection in Mandeville; several hundred thousand dollars for the Donnie Jarrell Foundation, an ALS society of which he is President, and initially established to assist a 10 time Ironman triathlete and special ed teacher diagnosed with ALS, and for the past 5 years he has directed and co-directed an annual fundraiser to build the $12 million Children's Museum of St. Tammany with the assistance of Jim Henderson and Margaret Orr.

Yeah, not donating money to a multimillionaire. If someone from New Orleans want to help New Orleans, there are HUNDREDS of charities that would love to have that money. What a tard.

I've never read Drew Brees' memoir but I guarantee you that there are at least 50 verses in it that would now be ripe with hypocrisy and irony considering what the Saints fans have gone though this offseason and that he has a contract sitting on his desk that would pay him more than what Peyton Manning and Tom Brady make the instant he signs it.

You know that Jarvis, Deshazier, etc will keep their TP jobs despite the layoffs. Political correctness and all that. Watch Stephanie Grace get laid off...

First off shitbag, I don't know why you're rolling your eyes and quoting me on a phrase that I clearly didn't write.
Your logic is insanely flawed...previous good ideas do not make present stupid ideas any less stupid.
oh shite the guy raised money for ALS...lets all give money to Drew!

Not "insanely" flawed, just a little .. point being if he has been a significant contributer to community causes, and if he'd like to show his support of Brees in an unorthodox manner, I applaud him for it.
I like to think that those fans and media that think Benson should just pay up the extra money now have an opportunity to put their money where their mouth is.
Those fans that think Brees is being unreasonable have no where to go.

Instead of donating money to Brees, what people should do is phone in orders to his Jimmy John's and have them deliver the sandwiches to a local homeless shelter.
That way people get tangible benefits from the gesture: Lazy bums or crazy war vets get food, Greedy Breesy gets money and gets emotional validation from the fans, Jimmy John's gets more employees, and Exxon sells more gasoline.

I will donate $0.00
I love Drew and the Saints, but I'm not going to donate to a Brees fund considering he'll make more in a year than I ever will. I understand he wants more money, and he deserves it, but this is dumb. Everybody knows Drew has the fan's support, the fans want him and so does the organization. We need him. But I'm not going to get involved in the business side of it and give him my money that I already spend on the franchise anyway.
Kudos to that guy for finding a way to get in the headlines.

The Saints offered Brees a long-term contract before the 2011 season that would have made him the highest-paid player in the NFL and Brees and his agent, Tom Condon turned the contract down, a league source told CBSSports.com.

Agree with this. Hes good but he not the only reason for the teams success. A good quarterback could win here. Highest paid player is not enough for him? How effective will he be when there aren't any quality players around him because the team can't afford them.
People are struggling and this guy is bitching about an extra few million a year when the teams offering 20. Frick Brees.

I don't even know what to think about this. This is such a dumb idea.
I love Brees, and dammit we need him, but he did state earlier this year that he wanted to work out a team friendly deal. No one made him say that. So I have a real problem reconciling that statement to the stand off we have now. If the Saints are offering him 19 or above, how does he not sign that?

You know how you handle an QB? They whine about anything, you pull down their pants and you spank their arse.

First, his agent wants more, because the more he gets Brees the more he gets his other clients. Second, I don't think Brees cares about the actual dollar amount as much as he cares about how his money compares to Peyton and Brady's money. Third, some have suggested he wants as much money as he can get for his future political career. Squeezing out an extra $10 - $20 million could mean the difference between Congressman Brees and Senator Brees.

His agent doesn't operate independently without input for his client. If he's seeking more money it's because Brees told him to.

What is he comparing then? I mean getting 19 mil a year would be getting paid more than those other guys. You think he's quantified just how much more worth he is than those other elite qbs?

Eh...as popular a figure as he is, I wouldn't see it being a problem to fund raise.

The donation is not actually donating money to Drew Brees, but to Drew's charity. The guy who set up the page says he knows that there is no chance Drew will just take the money, it is just supposed to be a showing of good faith that the New Orleans community will do whatever it takes to keep him.
Now if you disagree with the last part (as I do, I think Drew already knows how much he means to us clearly, and this really jut gives him more incentive to hold out) then by all means dont donate. But any money you do donate will go to Drew's charity which does a lot of good, and it is just as a showing of good faith to Drew not actually giving Drew money

He's not going to actually take the money.
And if you read the fine print at the bottom of the site, it says that in the event that the money is not accepted by Brees, it will be donated to the Brees Dream Foundation.
