Yeah.

It wasn't shocking or anything. I don't know why I was kind of surprised about leading the team in tackles, but I was

If we are talking about the same person for both that would rule out Okafor, but I know he was at least tied for second in sacks.

So someone who wasn't injured (since we had a lot of those) but also blitzed a lot (because no one else on the line had as many sacks as Jordan and Okafor).

I don't recall Marcus blitzing save for maybe a handful of times and I'd be surprised if he even had one sack, if that. He'd be a candidate for tackles but not sacks.

Robertson had a couple of sacks but I don't think he had more than that. He may have been up there in tackles but I doubt he led that too because he started on the bench for 3 (?) games.

Klein and Vaccaro were hurt and neither would have had the sacks for sure.

I know it wasn't any of the corners.

That leaves Bell, which isn't that surprising because he took over Vaccaro's role and played a lot at SS since Vaccaro was playing Nickel. That means he played closer to the line and would have had a fair amount of blitzes.

I'm guessing he finished with about 80 total tackles and he would have 4.5 sacks tying him for second with Okafor.

Correct or no?

This pretty much ruled out any CB or DL as they rarely, if ever, led in tackles.

Usually it's the SS or a LB as they are very often in the box to play the run.

Teams that use interchangeable safeties could have a FS led, but we normally play single high or cover 3, leaving Williams in the deep middle. That means he wouldn't have the opportunities in run support to led in tackles.

Injuries and a scheme change after two games. More than half of our defensive starters missed some time for one reason or another: Okafor, Klein, Anzalone, Robertson, Te'o, Crawley, Lattimore, and Vaccaro all missed at least two games or played significantly reduced roles for at least two games.

Sadly, It's a lot easier when you think about who played 16 games and didn't miss any time due to injury. I can't believe the injuries we had in 2017.

That's the only reason I arrived on Bell was because of the injuries to about everyone else.

That took about every other candidate out of the running.

He also didn't play many snaps until Klein went down though. And he didn't have many sacks. Maybe 2.

Edit:
The only game both Klein and Te'o played a bunch of snaps together was NE where Te'o played about half the snaps.

Every other game Klein was available for the whole game, Te'o played 33% or less of the snaps.

I would say Robertson, but there's no way he was 2nd in sacks. Has to be Bell.

My guess: Cam Jordan.

After cheating: nice. I was close.

No one on the team had even half the sacks he did. He was clear first in sacks.

Also Dlineman rarely have more than 60ish tackles total.

First name to pop in my head was Bell, and it's only because when I recently watched some reaction vids of games from this past season, the guys reacting read off stats after the highlights, and more than once I was surprised to learn Bell led the team in tackles in those games.

I haven't looked. Who is it?
