Why did the M*A*S*H record finally fall? I'm going:
3) Peyton Manning (it pains me, but the media hyped him more than any single participant EVER for 2 weeks)
2) Saints/Katrina/Lovable Loser angle
1) Massive Snowstorm in the East (the majority of the Large Cities)
What ya got?

1 and 2 Peyton Manning is boring to non-football fans. His robotic manner probably puts him behind Brees, Favre, Romo, and Brady in terms of bringing in eyes that wouldn't normally watch.

I can't help but think there was a large group of viewers who tuned in to watch Manning become the greatest QB of all time.

ok, the Saints game was under a better time slot, had Favre playing in it, and had the New Orleans story. Plus, what you posted does not dispute what you quoted
