You can always push though, which is why it's always better to backload.
The only time we got fricked is when Junior went full retard and we had signed a few subpar FAs a few years before (2012 free agency).
The system worked fine before and has been working fine since. As long as we don't have to unexpectedly cut a big money player early it's the right thing to do.
Look at both the Easton and Brown deals for instance. They may not make that last year, which is a huge chunk of the money. Their guarantees are mostly paid by that point.
They either earn the last year or two (with a potential extension lessening the cap hit and respreading it), or they are asked to take a pay cut or get cut.

You REALLY don't understand this sex trafficking thing. These girls are basically only getting board and food (neither good) while the people that "own" them profit from forced prostitution.
Now the time he slept with the owner or whoever it was, that was different because she is getting paid for the sex, unlike the girls who are basically sex slaves.

I had a dream last night that I smoked a blunt with Onyemata.

I can do one better
Rape 2 women = 4 game suspension
Knock ur B out and skull drag her out of the elevator = 2 game suspension
Make clean legal hard hits with no penalty = one year suspension
And in Fajitas case, 3 games just because he shoulda stopped it even though he did not participate.
Gotta love Goodell Justice...

Isn't brees cap hit 40 mil next year or did i read that wrong
Posted on 3/30/19 at 9:15 am to Chalkywhite84
It's $15.9 mil.
If he resigns it'll probably be closer to $40 unless we decide to stretch it again, but we are projected to currently have $60 mil in space so we could swing something if he comes back.

Ohh I didn't know they added an additional dummy year when they just did the restructure
So it's
2019 22mil
2020 15.4
2021 4 mil
So about 19 mil on the books already for years he isn't even signed for . I thought it was more

It's actually $5.4 mil in 2021.
He was on the books for $10.5 mil in 2020 before the restructure, and they took $10.8 mil and divided it between 2020 and 2021.
But yeah in total we are basically paying him for a year he won't play. But that balances out with years like 2012, 2016, and 2017 when his cap was far below the average of his contract.
This is the cost of building and maintaining a roster around him while he was making top dollar. The can was kicked and next year is when we pay it up (and a tad the year after).
But had we not gone that route there would have been (another*) year where we had to reset.
*the 2012 free agency class combined with Brees and Jimmy getting big deals and older defensive vets (some who were too injured to play) on big deals forced a mini reset in 2014.
