We'll see if Shough can overtake Baker by year's end.
And that's not based on feeling. That's looking at what they have actually produced in the past and trending recent, both passing and rushing, on a full per game basis.

back in 2024 Baker Mayfield had his best season ever.
yet Tampa really didn't run away with the division Atlanta swept them. that was also the year the Saints bottomed out under Dennis Allen.
it's like this division just has some weird way of staying close. I mean if you looked at Mayfield's numbers that year you would have thought they would have ran away with this division.
I could also be wrong but did they not clinch the division until the last week of that season when we played them in Tampa? it feels like each year when they've won it it doesn't become official until the end.

I want to say that is the history of our division almost every year, that it isn't decided until the last week or two outside maybe 3 or 4 years (us twice and Carolina once for sure).
I don't even think the year TB won the first SB that they had it locked up earlier than the 2nd to last week (thanks to us beating them twice that year). Trying to remember if Atl ever had a runaway season either.

Just looked and it a few more seasons than I thought. Atl did have it clean in 2012 (blocked out most of that year) and TB did have it earlier than I thought in 2002 (thought Atl was closer that year). 2003 I forgot Car outpaced everyone as well.
It is still a pretty even division though, with 9 playoff berths for us and 8 for everyone else, and the division titles being 7 each for us and TB, 6 for Car, and 4 for Atl. Every team also has at least 1 SB appearance.
I don't think any other division can claim it has been almost evenly contested as ours.

10 total seasons where a team has won the division by more than 2 games, and we have the most with 4 (2009, 2011, 2018, and 2019). Atl has 2 (2004 and 2012), TB has 2 (2002 and 2021) and Car has 2 (2003 and 2015).

I'm going first, as better as the Saints look, the division looks at least that much worse.
