Does anyone else think that Drew is holding out for every penny due to the possibility of his endorsements taking a hit with the offseason scandal. Brees had pretty much taken the roll of the "family man/all american guy" with major national endorsements. I think (at least immediately)these brands might be a little reserved pushing the saints/Brees in their ads. I wonder if Brees realizes this and is pushing a harder line with the negotiations. I might be way off.

This is his biggest, best, and last shot at making the most money he'll ever make in his life. He's squeezing his leverage for all it's worth. I don't think there's much more to it.

Last big contract. Condon is his agent. Face and heart of the franchise. Just broke Marino's record and pushing J Unitas's record. Has more leverage than the Saints do.
Then we can talk about endorsement money...maybe.

You may be on to something, how is drew to do anymore soap commercials when the saints are so dirty. What kind of message does that send.

I think Brees wants the publicity of being the highest paid player in NFL history. I would never have thought this a few years ago, but I truly think he is holding out for a few million more a year for this reason.

I mean really, is $2 mill more a year really that big of a deal when you are making $100 mill over the next 5 years?

I want the front office to sign him no matter what, but I wish they could just meet in the middle and get this over with.

I don't think its about the publicity but fighting for player's rights, players contracts, setting up bigger deals for the player's association down the line etc. Not about just a me thing for the deal. whatever it is, the likes of rogers and stafford of the world will beat it soon enough.

Is it possible that Drew Brees is holding out for more money because he is upset with the citizens of the city for not buying more Jimmy John sandwiches and his business is going to shite already?

I buy Jimmy John sandwiches all the time. I go into a grocery store and purchase poboy bread and sandwich meat and then put it together myself to save the $6 markup per sandwich. Nothing special about those sandwiches.
